How long of a wait after defoliation

I trim shady leaves, or tuck them behind nodes as needed. I start thinking about defoliating around week 3 flower. And as needed after that every couple of weeks. Thats obviously personal preference, and the pheno ive run the last few runs. Pics of your girls because i just like pics? :)

You are opening a can of worms here, some on here will tell you that you will go to hell if you defo, LOL. This is one heated topic, no matter what forum you are in.

I do defo, if it were me I would give them up to a week to recharge then flip. Not sure of grow medium? Around day 21 you will want to defo fairly heavy. Check out Sedan in the vertical grow section and you can see how much he does.
I am in day 3 of 12/12, growing low and horizontal. I will do a defo at day 21, then only remove fans blocking bud sites after that. I have been doing defo for a while now, but been growing vertical not horizontal. Last grow was 17.5 zips in my 4 x 4, grow before that was 24.5 zips, smokable buds. It is all strain dependant along with grow method. I have seen some hellacious grows without pruning, also some that were heavily defo'ed. It is all what works for you in your situation.
I do not expect anything like that for this grow, did not get to veg and train as long as I prefer. Got a schedule I am on for this grow. I would have prefered vegging about 6 to 8 weeks and worked it into a scrog.

Plants have most of their photosynthesis cells in their leaves. They will not be able to convert light to energy.

So those that do, seem to say generally, wait a week after defo/lollipop in veg before flip to flower. Then, after 3 weeks of flower, start defoliating big sugar leaves that block bud spots and generally as necessary all the way until the finish?

I’m around 8 weeks into veg on my first grow, I did lollipop, pull clones and defoliate a little over a week ago, and am planning on flipping to flower Sunday.

Photos were taken yesterday, plant is in FFOF soil, under a 500w mars led light, and had been fed one round of 66% strength technaflora 3 part nute system, sugar daddy, and magical.

Defo of all the under growth really made the canopy start to burst, so I will be more than likely defoliating come next round as well. I pulled clones and also have some other babies in veg, and am hoping to get this thing locked into a perpetual cycle by the summer.

All of my babies have been topped, and the Vanilla Kush is starting it’s first round of LST.

I don’t have a ton of expierence, but with the brief bit that I do have had great success topping, and defoliating.

well even if you defo in veg, you're going to put on exceptional growth in the first three weeks of flower (hopefully :) ) so a 2nd defo will be required (strain depending, i have a strain that requires practically zero defo). its just about opening up airflow and light to the innards. just remove the ones that seem like they're in the way of light to multiple others. i'm 3 weeks into flower this weekend on a couple plants and will be defo'ing and getting rid of any lower stuff that just doesn't get enough light.

with that said, there are two types of leaves, sun leaves and shade leaves. sun leaves will develop in high light environments and your shade leaves will develop in the lower portions during flower meristem growth. sunleaves capture more light than shade leaves do which means more energy. so there is something to be said for leaving as many of those upper leaves as you can without sacrificing too much shade below :)

this would be why you traditionally want to take from the insides and bottom when doing your defos, correct?
