Coming close to harvest and gonna give the ladies 48hrs darkness before the chop, i've read that your better chopping jus before lights on....my question is should i do 48hrs darkness and chop at the end of this 48hr period before plant gets any more light?

The 48 hr of darkness isn’t gonna help any. Simply harvest when they’re ready.
thanks for reply...i know theres conflicting opinions on this subject...was gonna do a side by side comparision with 2 plants and make my own mind up....jus wanted to know the proper way i should go about giving the 48hrs before the chop..

Are you gonna have it lab tested? I have, no difference there was, waste of time it is.

Congrats on getting to harvest. I read this too. After thinking through it I couldn't figure out how a lack of light will help anything. Same for flushing a soil grow. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I also chop after a night's slumber.

Harvest when they need a watering, if the plants are a little thirsty it will help speed the drying stage.

Obviously this dosent apply to hydro :-)

Leaving the plant in darkness for 24 hrs allows the carbohydrates stored in the buds and leaves to go back down to the roots.

This will result in faster curing smoke. It is in Ed Rosenthals book. It was never for potency.

And I have noticed that the trichomes get beat up by the light some throughout the day so I cut at lights on when they are dry in the pots.

And I dry and cure in the dark too. The light degrades terpenes for sure.
