DIY with Quantum Boards

Rose Parade was boring so thought I would smile upon my girls today ....
HYDROPLEX will go in next watering , probably tomorrow since this light cycle will go dark in a couple hours.

I was lurking another thread where there is a certain pinhead throwing shade on HLG.
This sack monkey is questioning the pricing compared to DIY from scratch ....
Anybody lurking this thread and are still on the fence about ..... Pull the god damn trigger.

Sure you can build a full custom ( from scratch ) board or strip rig , it's just an easier option to get " tested " panels from HLG and get growing. There are some super strip builds out there , but starting from bare components , ordering from here and there , then fabbing a board , mounting diodes ( hopefully TRUE Samsung pieces ) , trying to configure operating power / min and max , tiny soldering , on and on ..... Forget that shit.

I would rather have a PROFESSIONALLY built piece than play Lego creator.

Anyways ITS MARIJUANA MONDAY IN CALIFORNIA ! LEGAL BUDS
THANK YOU JESUS ! FINALLY !

Still gonna grow my own .... Hee hee

some people just don't understand when DIY just isn't worth the effort. I have the skill to build a car from a truckload of parts.....but why would i? people fail to put a value on their time investment. Of course, if they live with mummy and daddy and have nothing else to do.... solder away!

And of course, the always overlooked part, customer service. How much is that worth?? The service I've received from HLG goes far beyond any I've ever received from a company!

I'm with you. I'll pay their very fair price and know I have a superior product!

building a board like the QB is a big project, and may be satisfying to some. the economic reality of it though, you could buy 2-3 QBs for the value of the time invested. I build my lights , have a cob light and QB lights built from HLG parts, and now have almost all QB lights. Diy? yes. Simple? YES! As is building COB based lights. Spending hours soldering chips as a way to save money? Hell no!

I also do not build lights. Others choose to build their own which is interesting and the discussion helps others learn. The choice of either is fine it seems.

If you can not get QB pannels you can look at the Samsung F gen3 too. they are decent panels, (I believe with the same diodes?)
The 100W strips even has 288 diodes like a Quantum board just in a 4' form factor.

They make 2' units too, both come in a single strip or double strips LEDs on the panel. The strips are all the same efficiency, just different sizes and twice or half as many diodes, so you can not just get something to fit your form factor but also how much light you need.

What do you reckon il yield with 520w quantum boards in flower tent with 5 plants?

I’ve seen some get 1.5g but that would be 5.5oz per plant and I’d imagine I’d need a decent veg time regardless of the QB.

1 gpw! I would be soooo pleased to hit that magic 1gpw.

Now i've been searching and searching but i just cant get the qb's to holland. The shipping costs where so much that i had to figure out something else..

So i went for the alternative and bought some boards from rita fang in china
Sorry guys i really appreciate al the effort time and money that you invest in the qb brands etc but its almost impossible to get them where i live.

The specs are a little bit different. There are 304 diodes s38p8. Samsung s6 lm561c. The quality and service i have to check, dont know yet but i want something like the qbs... and here in holland were soooo behind in growtechnics. its ashaming... or how do you say that :wall:

So i bought 12pcs of them. Want to run them 50w a piece so i bought 3x elg-320-2100h so i can dim them down and leave some power for some other time...
To dim them im gonna try to hook the drivers up to a TC420 led controller dont know about wirering yet but have to test things out.
Everything will be stuffed in a 4x4 tent.

When the build is complete i will.post some pictures.

Hope to hit the 1gpw with this setup..:weed:

One of the few threads where many countries chime in .... Love it.
Shipping does suck internationally- I had an online vinyl record shop for years , but shipping albums to the uk and Australia ( for example ) would be up to $26 !

I say welcome to the thread , it would be cool to see how many QB related growers are floating out there from around the world ....

Maybe a roll call ....
Any Russians , Moraccan , Romanian , or Tibetans out there .... Hahaha
Maybe Kim Duck Dong could show us some North Korean Quantums ....

Just sayin ....

That depends on the size of tent your working with, you will do great with a 4x4 and that lighting but put that lighting In a 2.5x2.5 and your not going to hit your magic numbers.

I haven't hit less than 6oz a plant in a 4x4 with that wattage, but I only grow 4 at a time due to plant count comfort(law wise). Confident I could add another plant to my space and still hit 6 per plant. I could ram 9 in there and up the yield some more, although wouldn't be hitting 6 per plant on that.

Obviously it goes without saying strain plays a part too. But its not played much of a part for me. But I don't really grow elite low yielding strains either.

Not sure if it works for you, but where I'm from there are lots of shipping services that will give you a local US based address to ship your goods and they will ship it internationally to your destination. For me most of the times it's cheaper than DHL/UPS in 40%-50%
Might be worth a while to check if this type of service is available in Holland.

Good luck!

Thanks man. I’m in a 3.3x3.3 and normally run 4-5 plants with an 8 week veg but only using a 65w QB to veg. Might get another.

How long do you normally veg for?
Here’s my current grow with one of the QB in and a Chinese cob. 4-5 weeks into flower
