i made this tonight, dont know if/how well it will work but i guess ill find out! 3 layers of fiberglass mat/silicone composite with a steel screen bottom. The silicone is squeezed through the holes in the screen to give it a non slip texture. About 3/16” thick. I made a similar pad for the top plate to go between the plate and collet inly for that one i used cardboard (diet coke box) for the top and bottom and a piece of aluminum flashing to hopefully help keep the shaft from piercing it. 9AF067D3-CB3F-4E9E-8C93-C63406283E9C.jpegAnd a pic of the pressC4D10D9C-D1A6-41EE-9D9A-2176AC05E723.jpegi plan on getting a caged either 2x4 or 3x5 plate set but my buddy made these and a pre press mold for me for nothing. Scored the press on a 25% off deal for $90, the heat elements were $15 and traded a bag for the pids with ssr, heatsinks and thermocouples. Couple bugs to work out but not bad for $105 and a 1/4!
