It's not good for cannabis. If you use it for cannabis you'll have problems. It's got a bunch of poultry manure in it and you'll have issues. Anyone that compared it to Fox Farms doesn't know what they're talking about. If you have to get soil at Home Depot get the Dr Earth.

Have you actually used it before?

It's fine. I've used it before and didn't have any problems, but I'd add more aeration if you're using bigger pots with it. The bottom of the pot won't dry out fast enough IMO. Or just water it lightly when the soil at the top of the pot dries out until the soil at the bottom dries out some.

And despite the almost non-existent popular opinion of some (in this thread specifically) it doesn't have a lot of nutrients so keep an eye out for when you need to start feeding your plants.

If you can grow plants decently there's no reason it can't make a good medium.

@rikdabrick is right.
The only thing thing I can think of that might be an issue are the wood chips. That's only because people don't like em. They retain moisture VERY well though. An easy solution for the whole "bottom not drying out" thing is to grab a moisture probe. They're cheap as can be and in every garden center. Stab that sucker deep and it'll let you know when the bottom is dry.
I used it for 2 indoor runs and it works fine and dandy. Added a bit of Lime but I do that to just about everything. + Bone and Bloodmeal. The wood chips actually soften up and break down fast.
Ended up taking the soil when it was done. Dumped it in a big 25 gallon pot and plunking a blueberry bush in it. Thing's been kicking it and going strong for 3 years now. And my cereal, pancakes and oatmeal have been awesome

I just bought a bag of Happy Frog a few weeks ago to start some seedlings and it's appearance seemed close to that of Patio Plus woodchip wise/perlite content. I'm not saying that it's the same stuff. Just that it looked very similar to me.

MonkeyGrinder, I may try adding the same amendments as you did. Do you have any rough estimates on how much of each that you used per square foot and did you have to let it cook a bit before planting? Thanks.

This guy knows yea im on my second rrun using it i mixed with extra perlite and am using megacrops full complete 1 step nute powder only issue has been bottom soil wont dry as fast but if u go with the lifting pot approach its easier to tell when most the soil has dried and i water then

I bought some of this stuff for my peppers thinking I could just use water during the seedling stage and wouldn't need to feed them until they grew a bit into veg.

WRONG.

The seeds germed and then....just sat there....not growing....as if they lacked sufficient nutes to even produce a few true leaves. I ended up feeding them to see if that's what it was, and they started to take off finally.

As for drainage, alone it seems to pose a pretty significant compaction risk in the pot, so I would definitely add more perlite and some coco if you have it. I ended up going with a 3 parts patio to 1 part coco and 1 part perlite mix, and it seems to be doing fine.

All in all, it's probably a good option to use to supplement a medium recipe, but I don't think it's a good option to use by itself.

I couldn't even tell you how much I used. That's been well over 2 years ago and a lot of jars of dope lol.
I wanna say I just did the math and mixed it up as per instructions on the bags.

Have you tried Epsoma blends like Garden Tone added?

This year I put some epsoma plant tone in previously used soil after i fluffed it up. Put six inches of new patio plus on top of that and finally added Kelloggs All Purpuse fertilizer and a bit of extra perlite in. I'm getting great results. Garden tone may have worked great also. For flowering I'm going to try some Bulbtone.

Next year I'll probably amend the dirt probably with compost, lime etc also.

Whats the issue with chicken manure?

There is nothing wrong with poultry manure. It's the amount they put into Kellogs. That and all the wood scraps they use. It's great for growing flowers on the patio hence the name "Patio Plus". It definitely is not comparable to Ocean Forest as the OP stated they heard. It's a better choice than some of the other options at the big box stores but I wouldn't use it for cannabis. I also don't use it for container plants anymore because it has so much wood in it that when it dry's out too much the water just runs off and down the sides. It definitely needs to be mixed with additional perlite for proper drainage.

All I can say is that I'm getting great results with it but I added some fertilizer to start it off. The stuff I got this year seems to be a lot finer ground then previous years though.

I have used patio plus for 4 years and never had a problem with it. I add perlite to improve drainage and add organic plant food when I recycle it.but it works very well for me. don't know why people think you need expensive potting mix to grow weed.even a mix of just peat moss, lime and perlite with a good organic plant food works well on my outdoor summer crop
