I am running at 500 watts hps hortilux atm I plan on switching to 750 just after the stretch. 5 plants in a 4x4 tent in 5 gallon pots. 3 Green Gummy, 1 Sweet Afghani Delicious and 1 Chocolope. My roots are coming out of bottom of pots and may be rootbound I vegged for a while because i had to control some cold temps. my question is should I transplant? I switched to 12/12 two days ago. My canopys is absolutely full and everything is very intertwined with my trellis and im running out of vertical space to work with. Another note my plants were on the floor of the tent and maybe the roots are just poking out to drink the drainage?

I wouldn't recommend transplanting at this stage, just let it go. It also looks like you are only using maybe 2 1/2 gallons of those 5 gallon buckets at most, fill them up to within an inch of the top next time so that you are actually using 5 gallons.

As for the lights, do you have those numbers correct? 400, 600 and 1000 are common varieties. I've never seen a 500 or 750 hps. Or are you using a dimmer?

As for roots coming out the bottom, that's what roots do, it doesn't mean your root bound. Your just going to have to keep an eye on their watering needs, been in smaller than desired pots.

I tried the super crop thing. Turns put its only temporary. Wk 2 i busted 4 branches so that they pretty much pointed down at the ground. Now its week 4 and theyre pretty much straight up again...lol

And the colas are just as big as all the others in tje space....lol
:bigjoint: I do it regularly in flower to fill out the space better, they start to turn back up but still stay roughly horizontal, once that hard knuckles formed they cant straighten out fully. Sometime I do it in two places. If I do it in veg then I brace them up like broken legs so they respect my authoritah.

All you can really do at this point is either let it ride or get yourself a bigger tent.

Getting a larger tent would allow you to crank the light up more and give the girls more room to spread out, but I'm sure you've already considered that. I recommend it simply because of the fact you're growing Chocolope as I hear it grows into a monster in flower.

If you're unable to spring for a larger tent and use the full 1000w from your light, then your next best option is to just leave things alone and let the plants do their thing. The only downside to this is that you'll face possible mold/mildew issues if you don't keep your humidity in check, but if you just grab yourself a dehumidifier and keep the humidity at 40% then mold/mildew can't even grow. If getting a larger tent isn't an option, your best bet is to leave things alone and start saving for a dehumidifier so you don't get hit with mold and lose everything. With how close those buds are going to be to one another that is a definite possibility.

As for your roots, roots go where there's water. It's not uncommon for roots to grow through the smart pots you're using if there's a lot of runoff on the floor for them to get to. Pretty handy for outdoor grows, kind of nice having a 10g pot that decides to grow 2-5g more rootmass underneath the pot xD

Anyway, get yourself a dehumidifier and you'll be fine and on your way to a great harvest. However, if your humidity isn't kept in check you are at a pretty high risk for mold/mildew for sure. If you can afford it, I'd definitely grab yourself a larger tent and crank up your lights. Even better if you can grab the dehumidifier on top of all that!

Best of luck with the grow!
