Please help with Nutrients

Hello, everyone,

I'm brand new to growing have a DWC (only 1 for now) set up, with A VIPARSPECTRA Reflector-Series 450W LED Grow Light, have a can filter w/165cfm 4 inch fan, dehumidifier (just incase), and need help with nutrients. I have currently (because they were given to me by a friend) made by advanced nutrients:

Sensi Bloom
Rhino skin
Bud candy
Voodoo Juice
Piranha
Overdrive
B-52

This seems like a F ton of show from what ive read, but all I would have to purchase is a GROW nutrient correct? What kind (I know they say try any, and go from there but is there any suggestions)?
When the hell do I use sensi bloom, because according to the grow chart start to finish, voodoo the first two weeks, piranha the first two weeks, rhino skin says to do the whole cycle, but then people say "why the hell would anyone run Potassium silicate that long?" Well now I'm confused. And, how the hell do I get RO water? Is that just filtered Walter? And, B-52 i know b vitamins helpstimulate systemic induced resistance says to start week 3 till 7, but they say its for soil. How does it work with hydro? Should it be run why and why not? I want to start I'm sorry about the newby questions, but I got all this stuff handed to me and now that I finally got beans I am excited, and motivated. I don't care about profit or anything I just want the best buds that can possibly be grown by me. Thank you if anyone has some serious help that would be great. Yes I am a beginner, yes I've been doing research, yes I will continue, yes I'm an idiot just help please of possible.

Any nutrient will work.

They want you to use it all so you spend more money.

I go for cheap as possible so I would never use AN.

you got all the dazzle and no basics. I don't do hydro, but Dyna gro makes good all in one products as well as Jacks, who makes a hydro specific nute. Advanced is a marketing company that sells bottles of the same shit, just broken and watered down with cute pics and names and big promises. all to get your money. the stuff you have shouldn't be used until you understand what it is and how to use it.
Here is the best advise I ever got.
K.I.S.S= keep it simple stoner AND
Less is more

Remember that when growing. Improve environment and lighting. nutes are a small part of the whole deal.

Thank you, I appreciate that, from all of you. I was afraid I wouldn't even gets response. But, since I have these products, and not much cash, should I use them, if so how (if anyone has a pretty grasp on it), or should inside it up buy some starter kit, and yield what i can?

5lb bag calcium nitrate and 5lb tub of jacks 5-12-26 is all you need.

I bought 25lb bags for about $90 for both. Should be able,to get 5lbs for $30 or so. You get a huge price break at 25lbs but i understand you just running 1 plant. 25lbs will last you 100 years lol.

5Lbs of jacks at 3g/gal will last 750 gallons.
5Lbs of calcium nitrate at 2g/gal will last 1100 gallons.

So 5gal every week the jacks will last 3 years and the calcium nitrate will last 4 years.

It works out to about less than 1 cent for every oz produced. My operating expenses are low. I spend about $3 for every oz produced.

Wow! You guys are great I honestly thank you very much! I am very grateful. Like I said, I just want the best I can get without some crazy grow list of nutrients. I talked to my local hydro shop, and of course he also tried to sell me on some stuff. So, I said: "thank you for the help but i think I can flush my plants in DWC by just doing water for 15 days." Thank you guys.

Have you got both bottles of the Sensi Bloom as it's a 2-part nutrient. If so then get the two of Sensi Grow and with what you have now you are good to grow!

I've been doing DWC with AN nutes for 16 years and for a new grower you have the easiest nutrient line to start off with. Grow with those and once you have a few grows under your belt you can go ahead and switch to the cheaper nutes that will work just fine but don't have the added advantage of being pH Perfect which saves a lot of fussing around.

AN base nutes, the 3-part, are no more expensive than the poorer quality GH line which being owned by Scott's Miracle Grow are shunned by self respecting growers who discriminate about which companies they support with their wallet.

Of all the nutes you list I only use the Rhino Skin. I'm now using the basic 3-part, Big Bud, and the Rhino. I use some Growtech CalMag but very little of that. I recently got a free 500ml bottle of the Bud Factor X that I will use in a side-by-side comparison grow to see it it might be worth buying after this bottle runs out. Did that with the OverDrive and the Bud Ignitor and found they made no noticeable difference so they are off the menu.

People bitch about the expense but it's things like the Voodoo, Piranha etc that I also feel are vastly overpriced and not at all needed to grow huge colas in DWC. I bought gallon jugs of the 3-part for a total of $124CAN. $40 each for the Grow and Bloom and $44 for the Micro. I'll grow $20,000 worth of pot, (at the current inflated market prices of today), from that so why give up the simplicity of them to save a few pennies buying something I'll have to constantly monitor the pH of. I haven't used my pH pen to test nutes since I got some Sensi Grow and Connie Bloom about 5 years ago when my 10 year old gal jugs of 3-part ran out. Still have half of each of those left and gradually using them for vegging plants until they're gone too. I didn't see anything special in them over the 3-part and the 3-part gives me much more control over how my plants are fed. After the stretch I switch to Lucas formula to limit the amount of N they get as too much N in later flowering will really lower your yields. I use the Big Bud powder rather than the liquid as it has a much longer shelf life. It'll take me at least 3 years to use up the 500g can of BB that I got when I bought the 3-part jugs a little over a year ago and liquid might be good for a year and a bit. Lots of organic molecules in BB and they break down much faster in a liquid form than a dry powder.

Also you save a lot of money in your nutes by not blindly following the change every week instructions AN gives you. I change my nutes once during the whole grow and that's after the stretch when I switch over to Lucas formula growing with BB. I have done quite a few tubs where I never change the nutes at all because I'm under the weather and just don't get around to it. Years back I did a side by side grow with about 16 Afghani Kush plants in each RuberMaid tub. Changed one twice and the other not at all. The one that never got changed preformed a little better than the one that did tho the plants were all from seed where you really want identical clones from the same mother to do experiments like that. The other got changed just before flipping to flower and again once stretch was over about 3 weeks later. I just monitor ppm and add small amounts of nutes to maintain my target level or a bit more to bump the ppm up to a higher level as the plants mature and can handle more. AN says to use 4ml/L from sprout to finish. Do that if you want burned and dead plants. 300ppm to start clones in the net pots and work up from there. If very low RH like me then don't go over 750ppm or you'll have toxic salts buildup and frying leaves around week 5 of flower if not before.

Another tip is to use RO or distilled water only unless you are one of the lucky few that has tap water with very low ppm, <50. Minerals in the water will build up in your tub/pail and you will have to change nutes more often to prevent that from throwing everything out of whack. We buy RO for drinking water as our house water comes out of a dugout on my property at 400ppm and pH8. RO or distilled has no real pH of it's own and if you mess with the pH of the water after mixing your nutes you'll just screw it up so leave the pH pen on the shelf soaking in storage sol'n and trust the technology for the best results. 50 tubs or so under my belt so I've had some experience in this.

Stuff works great in soilless too but then I just go by ml/L. 1ml/L for seedlings, 2ml/L for nicely vegging plants every second watering and up to 3ml/L for hungry strains like Kush. I've never used 4ml/L and had burn at the 3ml level so tread lightly.

Good luck with your growing!

I'd prefer that you run a grow thread that I can help you in. If we do it with PMs then nobody else gets to profit from my wisdom. ;)

You might need more posts before you can use the PM service as well.

You can always click on that link in my sig and post in my thread to catch my attention if you start a new thread and I didn't spot it right away.

I got a member on a site I Admin at and he's doing the same as you with some 6" plants in tubs. Looking great so far and he's using AN nutes too.
