First grow...not planned

I have always wanted to grown my own plants but location and housing made that difficult. After a recent move, I started casually researching the forums and felt ready to try next spring.

Then, 12 weeks ago I had two seeds in a bag from the dispensary (rare in my experience) and wondered if I could get them to at least sprout. I found a 5 gallon clay pot left by the previous homeowner and decided to use that. I have no idea how old the soil was or what was planted in it previously. I stirred up the soil, dropped both seeds in the same hole and watered. To my surprise they started growing so I kept watering. Fast forward 12 weeks and I now have two small females close to harvest. The more I researched, the more I found out I did wrong, but this wasn't planned. Here are some of my biggest questions:

1) Is it possible to identify the strain or if Indica/sativa?
2) If nothing was used besides the old soil and water do I need to flush?
3) Do trichomes turn milky on the smaller bottom flowers at the same time as the top? If not do I cut them separately?
4) How much odor can I expect from drying? Will Ona pro gel outside the room be enough?
5) What kind of quality can I expect from the final product?

I appreciate the help.

Hybrid
No
Yes you can select harvest
Might smell, might not
Probably some alright stuff
Thank you. I looked at it with the scope for the first time today. The top buds were milky and about 5% Amber. Do those turn before the lower buds? I will try and get a picture through the scope tomorrow. It took me forever to get that thing steady.

Thank you again!

It's needs at least 2/3 more weeks..the more I look at it , looking like a quarter maybe the half O. If you let it go for the 3 more weeks.

Top notch

Just let the girls go as long as you can hold out and you'll be able to see your trichomes swollen and milky to the naked eye when she's ready you might get a oz off em depends on how long you can wait b4 you chop em. Pump the k, magnesium and sulfer to them and watch those buds swell up now. Looked like they're a sativa leaning hybrid to my eye. Keep farming and upgrading your set up and youll be smashing it b4 you know it. Oh and every strain stinks different when drying but if ona covers up the smell don t worry about keeping those genetics look for better 1's nothing should be able to mask the smell of fresh candy. There's a little nug harvested at 62 days of 12 12 she was probably 50/50 cloudy and clear20171028_180905.jpg 20171028_180905.jpg 20171028_180905.jpg

Welcome to RIU Grant. A general rule of thumb is Sativa will be more narrow leafed, but there are exceptions. Most everything these days is a hybrid, as your plants look to be. For a first time you did good. But in future, you might remember that clay pots suck up water worse than a dirty hiker. Good luck the rest of the way.

Grant - every newbie asks how much will they yield, except for you of course - thank you, and the typical smartass answer is 'about a pound'. Even when you don't ask, we work it into our 'free advice'.

Looks like you'll probably get an oz or 2 when it's all trimmed and dried, and you'll get to learn the whole drying/curing process which is detailed all over this site and about a million others. There's nothing more enjoyable than smoking your owngrown.

I usually check the trichs on the upper bud leaves, the sugar leaves. Once they're all cloudy with up to 25% amber, your good to harvest. On a larger plant, I would trim the most mature buds and leave some lower stragglers for a couple more weeks but in your case, you can take down the whole plant. With winter rolling in, the season is about done, depending on where you're growing of course.

Good luck and happy growing.
