You really think he's going to do that when, on his very own site, Obama states very clearly that "drug use is immoral"? IMMORAL! He actually deigns to dictate our morality to us. He and Biden, especially, have had a bit of time in their respective positions to make a statement on medical mj, yet haven't. Why is that? If a person who's going to vote for him states that they know x or y about him, they should really be sure they actually know it, factually. Obama's "push" for decriminalization is in people's heads, it's not in his agenda.
When asked if he would stop the federal raids on pot dispensaries in states that have legalized marijuana:

“I would because I think our federal agents have better things to do, like catching criminals and preventing terrorism. The way I want to approach the issue of medical marijuana is to base it on science. And if there is sound science that supports the use of medical marijuana and if it is controlled and prescribed in a way that other medicine is prescribed, then it’s something we should consider.” (James Pitkin, > “Six Minutes With Barack,” Willamette Week, 5/14/08 .)

Oh me oh my, the two darlings of the site are taking me to task again, how absurd. The tough guy and his "B" think I am oh so unruly and etc, etc. Well Fu Fu Fu, damn that stutter, I think they know how I feel about them. They seem to think this is their site and they make the rules. Well guess what, they don't. The tough guy has threatened to come to my house and kick my ass, I wonder how he could find out that information??? Could he be using information from his pissy ass tech job? The tough guy (Bully) would come to my house and whail on a 68 year old man because he can't control his temper. The tough guy isn't bullet proof and just in case he doesn't know, assault on the elderly is considered a felony which pretty much gives me liscence to shoot him right in his tough guy head, could happen if he showed up on my door step. I've been forwarned.

You got yourself spanked, didn't you, med? Otherwise you'd be spewing out the same old hatred that you've been spewing since before I registered. No, we don't get to you, not at all.

Erhm... it sounds like they might try giving control of Medical Marijuana to Big Pharma, and still maintain its status as a controlled substance.

Sounds good for sure, but remember ... O'Bama is a politician before he's anything else. The goal of a politician is to get elected and the way they do that is by telling us what we want to hear.

Here's what I would expect him to say if elected:

"Yes, my administration has taken the Medical Marijuana issue under advisement. The FDA has given us studies that have proven that marijuana doesn't have any curative properties. The Supreme Court has ruled that federal law supersedes state law on the medical marijuana issue ... so the present thinking in my administration is the same as all those that came before me. We will continue to attempt to control, and abolish the medical marijuana cooperatives in the various states."

That's about it ...

marijuana would basically be legal in california if it weren't for the government raids. That's about the best happy medium we're ever going to get.

Not a very happy medium... though from what I heard the Federal Penitentiaries are a lot nicer than the ones ran by the states, but I don't know if that's true or not.

why would anyone be imprisoned? If its legal in the state and the feds are enforcing a crap law, then who would get arrested?

In simple terms ... Power and control. There were over 800,000 marijuana related arrests last year, even exceeding the Clinton years, when record marijuana arrests were recorded.

The FEDS don't have the manpower or the time to bust small medical closet grows, but they WILL bust larger grows, cannabis clubs AND high profile patients.

The best bet is to vote for McCain/Palin so we can get more constructionists on the Supreme Court. They are the ones like Clarence Thomas who believe a strict interpretation of the Constitution and in state's rights. The liberals like Ginsberg WANT an over-reaching, all-powerful central government. With McCain/Palin we get judges like Thomas. With O'Bama/Biden we get more Ruth-bader-Ginsbergs.

holy shit that is crazy talk. The FEDS have the power to bust medical marijuana facilities because that power was granted to them and enforced by President George Bush, who had multiple opportunities to end the raids and vocally chose not to. McCain fully supports the war on drugs and will continue the raids. Obama, as I JUST LINKED, has vocally said he will END THE RAIDS ON MEDICAL MARIJUANA. How can you spell it out any more clearly? IF OBAMA IS PRESIDENT, FEDERAL RAIDS WILL END. Any state that has a medical marijuana law will operate freely and ALL patients with medical cards will be free to grow or buy weed as the state dictates without prosecution. McCain will not do this. Obama will. It's a fact. If people can get their cards as easy as they do now and shops can stay open, marijuana will basically be legal. The ONLY thing hindering the process is federal raids. Not judges, not the constitution. THE FEDS. Turn them off and this war is over.

Inneed, are you re-writing history, or what? This shit started with Clinton. Rather like CALEA and the PA.

You can capitalize all you want, you can do what Cherry did all those months ago and put it in giant text. It will not make your words any more true. You really need to learn a lot more about your guy. Obama will do no more for decriminalization or legalization than McCain will. The only one who's put his money where his mouth is is Ron Paul. Obama's stance? Keeps changing. So, he'll change it to placate a few, just enough, because he can't piss off or offend the other half, and then he'll do what nets him the most perks. He is just as for sale as McCain.

His website has changed, I should have saved a screenshot of the pages. On his own website he clearly states, practically verbatim, what I said to Inneed previously. I have yet to see anything from him that proves he is anything other than disingenuous at the best, and completely misleading at the worst (a.k.a. status quo). Anyway, now I can't find ANYTHING on his site about drug war policies, so that whole section is just gone. I wonder why.

in my state the repubs are the ones that keep shooting down medical marijuana. The dems are for it and the repubs say no. I don't see how voting for McSame is going to help anything.

Before anyone freaks out, I'm not an Obama supporter either.

My vote is still up for grabs.

that's how all of you want to debate? A list a quote from a candidate and all you can say is that he's lying? Good to know I can say that anytime in the future for McCain. It's a pretty simple argument. Quotes? Who cares, he's lying. Facts, who cares, books lying. Yeah.. that works good. So what is McCain's stance on medical marijuana? One candidate say's he'll end the raids... as opposed to what? Continuing them? Much better...

The Dems as have the Repubs had ample opportunity for the decriminalization of Pot.
None have done it yet, and to think by electing Obama will change it is naive at best.
