Justice Democrats Platform

so you don't want democrats to accept donations from groups that lobby for progressive causes?

"hey, planned parenthood, FUCK YOU! your money is no good. we will compete against the NRA on our own!"

i get the appeal of fighting for institutions like PP without their dollars, but how do you think campaign operatives are hired? ideas are only as good as the money people like you and i are willing to put behind them. without dollars to hire the best, most competent campaign people, we might as well relegate ourselves to complaining on message boards.
I see his point. If we carve out exceptions, pretty soon we slide right back down the slippery slope to where we are now.

@Padawanbater2 I see his point, as well; if we take a rigidly ideological stance, we end up without the resources to fight for what we believe in, we've given the opposition a big advantage.

This is why we need to outlaw campaign cash for EVERYONE. Until then, it's a necessary evil, to use in service to the larger goal of outlawing campaign funding for everyone.

Me neither.

But, I don't think a campaign contribution is necessarily a bribe. It may look like a bribe, it may smell like a bribe, but it isn't a signed contract that you will personally make sure the contributor actually gets anything.

Hillary's contributors aren't getting anything these days. And if she had won, there were no guarantees either.
Congress has to pass to stuff through.

As I have mentioned, the corporation I worked for donated to both sides equally in senatorial races. And they didn't get what they wanted all the time, as far as trade cases and foreign subsidized dumping.

Nobody gets everything they want.

I want what you want. The difference is, if I don't get everything I want, I still support them as the best alternative. Compare my idea to what happened on Nov. 8th. I'd rather be a little unhappy with Clinton as opposed to the war against truth machine, the horrible cabinet, the right wing judges, etc.

I wonder how much different a Sanders cabinet vs. a Clinton cabinet would have looked. There would be overlaps, I'm certain. Same with judges.

It's not just the top of the ticket one is voting for.
The corporations involved know very well that even though they don't get everything they want, the return is well worth the investment. That makes it bribery.

Why is it wrong? Because few have the money to compete with them, so their interests get first priority.

That's why your company donated to BOTH sides. Either way, they get first in line status for their interests over yours and mine.

Explain how it ISN'T corrupt?
It's an attempt to acquire leverage. As I said, it doesn't always work.

It would have to work out the way they wanted, they would have to get something out of it before you can call corruption.

And since everybody involved loves money, it is an uphill battle for election campaign finance reform.

I bought a bag of Snickers, it will be a while. 3 and a half years to the first window of opportunity.

I'll be ready, find a good candidate who will carry the torch.

A pessimist is an optimist who's been mugged.

I'm a pessimist, lol

That doesn't mean I don't have hope for something better.

If we leave the political field to 'those with the gold make the rules by choosing the winners' we'll see the solidification of the very aristocratic system our Founding Fathers fought so hard to bury.

Just because it doesn't ALWAYS WORK doesn't mean it isn't a corrupt practice.

Unfair leverage is the antithesis of democracy.
You went to school. Sometmes you have to grade on the curve or 90% of the class fails.

We'd be better off without Trump.
Corruption would be substantially less.
