First time grower. I built my own light. 8 COB's, cxb 3590's @3500k in a Gorilla 3x3. Doing a no-till organic approach. I had some mites early on so I sprayed with Spinosad and added some predator insects, this seems to have gotten things under control. I've taken some clones using Aloe and they look really healthy 2 days in. The back two are Dr. Who's (from seed) the front left is Sour Tangie and front right is Gorilla Glue #4. I put the Dr.Who's on wine crates to get them to the same height as the front two. Thinking of flipping in a week or two, I'd just like the Dr.Who's to get a little more height. I was thinking of pulling the stakes and putting some netting in, but with 3 different strains going at once I'm still not sure if this is a wise move. I've been topping the sour tangie and gorilla glue quite a bit to keep them low. I don't want this grow to get out of control so any any advice, particularly regarding when to initiate flowering would be greatly appreciated.

Keep topping to keep your height down and don't go into flower until the stalk of your plant is as big around as a quarter. Maybe even a little bigger. Vegging until you've got a nice fat stalk will set you up for a successful yield in flower. Along with the added benefit of making your plant more sturdy and less likely to fall over.

Looking good! All the shops in my area have been pushing GG4 like it's the second coming of Christ I'm interested to see how mine turn out. I hate the way it bushes in on itself in veg. I feel like I'm constantly clipping fan leaves to keep light penetrating to the mid-level area of the plant just below the main tops.

She grows like mad fire, I kept her super low in veg to avoid any problems, i flipped before the tallest one even hit the second ring of the tomatoe cages. i could defenitly see how that could be an issue if i vegged for more then 2 weeks

I flowered mine when they were about halfway past the second rung on the tomato cages. But I kept topping them before they got there for maximum budsites.

4 and a half weeks old in flower. Look at how this unruly bitch refuses to let her lower canopy get any light.

Sorry for the shitty pic quality, took it with the lights on.

she is branchy :) she did the same thing as all mine were the tops grew up taller then the middle by far i just pulled the tops around and trimmed a few out here an there and made my canopy how i wanted it about a week ago having 2k watts in a 4x8 tent helps with the penetration too ;)

P.S. Pick that tag off your tomatoe cage before a leaf :P

Hahaha I'll get that tag outta there! She definitely demands some training! This one definitely required the most attention in that regard. The blue cheese and Pakistan valley have been practically growing themselves.

Nice supplemental lighting you got going on!

I love the middle eastern indicas. I love the earthy, chocolate smells and taste of them vs the fruity smell and taste of the indoor bred American and Dutch indicas. I like them too tho lol.

Second grow last grow didn't go too well due to spider mites so I learn how to battle them and Able to keep going. I got 12 ladies under 2 600w hps growing some sherbet, chocolate hash berry , la con ,and phlatunim purple growing in soil how y'all think I'm doing?

looking good man, super healthy for your second grow and only using hps. I would try using a MH bulb for veg and atleast the first week of flower maybe two, that will help you get your nodes closer togeather! then you can really blast them bud sites with light

I second the notion that you should use a MH bulb in veg! The difference in the amount of budsites and the ease with which your plants will bush out in response to training or topping vs hps is immeasurable. And you can pick up a cheap 1000 MH bulb for 20-35 bucks. I wouldn't buy the expensive ass MH bulb, I would splurge on the nicer hps bulb if you can afford it when it's time to replace. I've used the dual hps/mh bulbs before as well. Super expensive but they perform very well!
