DiY LEDs - How to Power Them

I see the 12 COBs now but they can't be the 3590 style, I don't think. The luminaire is too small to hold 'em.

They're in the 4000k or 5000k spectrums only. I cant tell what they are but if they're the CXB3590CD cobs then that'd be the a damn good deal. Doesn't say what the driver is either.

I'm not sure what CXB number they are but the low cost compared to building form parts,isn't a real surprise.
It is small for 3590 I agree wattage draw seems too low.I can't find anything on what CXB series is in them.No schematics,part list,etc...Now I'm curious if Cree uses 3590 in any of their light systems?
I might email Cree just to cure my curiousity.

it's not 3590 because the 240 watt fixture puts 24000 lumens (100 per watt),if they were 3590 driven at 20 watt each (240 w /12) they would put out 200 lumen per watt give or take(i think more):razz:
i would spend that money on a3590 based fixture or diy :bigjoint::peace:

Inefficiency, unreliability. Output isn't as accurate and stable. How cheap would they have to be?

How do you guys and gals feel about this setup:

2 Vero29's powered by a clg-150-36a?
I'm looking to get into building LED's and want something small cheap to see how it all goes.
Will this work? Suggestions?

Lpc-100-2100 . cheep. one per cob but less efficient and 2 yr Warranty.
Clg 150-36 TYPE A will work, 3 yr warranty
Hlg150 -36 TYPE A 7 year warranty

With cobs in parallel it is this issue tht if one cob fails the other gets all the current.
You can avoid this issue by using Supra's idea.
Just connect single cob to driver and adjust the Vf potetiometer on driver so that current is around 2.1 amps or little higher. Then keep it like that and connect 2nd cob. Verify current is 2.1+2.1. Use the other current control internal potentiometer to adjust current to control intensity.
Now if one cob fails the other cob will not get full 4.2 amps. It will get around 2.1 amps due to the voltage limit you set using voltage potentiometer on driver.

Some of the tests are done at 55C to 60C , 95% RH so driver may reach 75-85C. I assume this happens on a hot summer day with the driver mounted on a high bay light.
For indoor use i have seen around 38C with Ambient 20C. Depends on plastic/metal case type, efficiency, load
Never saw a driver that was too hot. Just warm to touch.

long story hydrogrow sol6 600watt pops stock 100watt cobs like pimples just found out about cree cob thru add and hell why not

Most likely no. I would not try. If Meanwell drivers does not support parallel function. I would not expect a random driver in Chinese grow lamp to support parallel function either.

Super random super junk. Dam you hydrogrow. I think there getting it though theyve sent me ten cobs free within the first month I had the light im about to install the last one I have 9/10months later. 50,000 hours my ass. they werent tryin to warrentyshit til I told them about the advanced leds iv had for 6 years know with no probs. Warranty page know says yeah file but we dont have any to give you. 12 total drivers in light each driver powers half a 100watt cob. Thanks for your help. Funny just saw you in other thread and your image had me looking up veros and kingbrite. Helping newbs and dont even know it.

I've looked and can't find a thread so far...

Is there a thread that shows how to wire the driver and the fan power supply to the same dimmer and power switch? Is that possible?

Also, has anyone used the Pairui drivers from cutter?
