"Incredibly easy transaction here. Just head to East Nanjing Road, wait to be solicited for a “sexy lady massage”, and simply ask the solicitor if he has hashish. Generally, they will make a call and you’ll have the hash in your hand within 10 minutes."

"In Beijing it is very easy to buy hash. If you don't know anyone, the best thing to do is to go to the Sanlitun bar area, either the bar street itself or to the area in front of the KFC west of Sanlitun Bar Street, opposite the City Hotel. Most of the merchants are West African guys who hang around that area."

When I was living in Nanjing, we used to go to the 串儿 vendors. They always had the hook up, especially around universities. 新疆人 would also at times be a good hook up. In Beijing it was always around 三里屯 ,鼓楼,放假 areas. Rumor had it in Beijing that loads of stuff was coming in through the Nigerian embassy, so any one who you think might be connected to that via nationality might help you out with most things you could want. The thing was that the 警察 were said to look the other way as long as stuff was being sold to foreigners only. Shanghai it was all about the French Concession. You could tell who the sellers were the moment you saw them. Xian, Tianjin, Suzou as well as most other second tier cities I suppose, I would recommend going to youth hostel bars or expat bars. in Dali, it was the old grannies on the corners in the historic downtown.

Doesn't seem such a bad place in terms of buying weed then. What if the police catch you? Can you somehow mingle your way out of the situation or are you proper f***?

To me, the way it seemed like is what I image being gay in the 50's would have been like in that there was so much negative public myth about it but no one actually knew what it looked like. So you could be out in the open and not be discrete and unless someone was in the know, which was extremely rare, then they would never know. Just like being gay in the 50's, penalties are extremely high for being caught. For example trafficking can result is execution. As an antidote, I once had a Chinese roommate express this extreme position by telling me that he would do anything for me except two things; murder someone or do drugs. With this said, I would roll J's around him all the time with out him having a clue. I suppose he assumed I was just rolling cigs. Yeah, I kind of feel bad about that in retrospect. Oh and the quality of product was horrible, absolutely horrible with the rare exceptions.

The Chinese were the first recorded people using cannabis as early as 6000 BC so it should be legal there in my opinion lol. I'm very grateful to the Chinese for all of their contributions to mankind. Especially the discovery of cannabis. Out of all those Asian countries it seems Thailand is the hard ass.

In china "Yunnan" is the only legitimate place to grow industrial hemp, and you can also seen plants along the road and garden, but this species is only about 0.5% THC..
