To obtain healthcare in the pre ACA days all you had to do was get a full time job. It wasn't that difficult. You had to not be a total waste of humanity.

I could get insurance through work, but the insurance would not cover any pre-existing illnesses (type-1 diabetic).
So basically my insurance through a company was 100% worthless to me because everything is related to diabetes even if it is not. Now I have insurance that covers me completely that isnt so ridiculously high that I can actually afford it.
