BHO Manual Extraction

A vacuum chamber isnt just nice ITS NECESSITY. Just because you have done something the wrong way "forever" doesnt make it less wrong. What does your heat purged oil taste and smell like? Finished consistency?
If BHO this good is "wrong" I don't wanna be "right."

I disagree it's a necessity, if you know what's going on chemically. It might be. necessity for you.

So delightful I must say so myself! I got 6.5 grams on 80 grams of trim. A little short of my 10% usual run, but I'm def impressed with the quality.

Im real impressed with the chunk of plant matter in left corner and the great return you got. Like twitch said throw that in some alcohol and watch your clean oil bubble right up.

you my be impressed but we are not, now put that in some ever clear and watch all the butane escape.
You have a mouse in your pocket?

Who is, "WE?" Why would I care to try to impress you? If you wanna help, then offer suggestions. Don't immediately say I can't have butane free oil with my method. It would sparkle and sizzle when lit if it had butane still in it. It completely dissolves when I dab it.

Well, it's gonna work great for me! I'm not a professional BHO expert, but I've been extracting for many years this way and read all the time about what's chemically going on with the process. I spent 12 dollars on butane and that's all so very good return to me.

I read some of your stuff @twitch and you clearly know your stuff. I agree the best method is going with a vacuum extraction setup, but high quality, very good tasting BHO can be made using heat and whipping. It takes hours on a tempered pot and 30-45 minutes of constantly stretching to spread it out over the surface area of the dish. When it quits bubbling, it sits for another half hour. I use this forum for so much info, and I don't wanna come off as a smart ass. I was clearly told my butane method was "wrong," when this method has been done forever by many in my circles. I'm glad you are on the cutting edge of extraction. I do it 2-3 times a year, so what do I know?

Happy Thanksgiving!

for next time, I would suggest using everclear as a secondary solvent.
when you blast scrape your pyrex or leave it in it and put in in ever clear, 190 proof. you dont need much, if you leave it in you pyrex you can do it all at low temps and a fan and have great tasting stuff because the heat will kill your flavor. If you scrape it into a glass of ever clear maybe 1/4 cup for your amount and stir till dissolved. at this point you can take a second filtration process and put it in the freezer over night and see all the fats waxes and lipids fall out. then you filter that into a pyrex dish and let it evaporate out in a thin layer with a fan. after a day scrape and dab.

Thanks for the great info! I'll try that for sure next time. I do use low heat; around 95-100 degrees.

manual extraction.... nice
I knew a guy named Manuel that did extractions.... lol

we know because we put ours in vac chambers for some times up to 48 hours, but we are trying to offer you a solution, but if you want to be a smart ass and put up a post and in this C&E section we are going to comment and it will be the truth, this isnt cannabis.com or icmag
He uses 14x, why purge, tane soup that shit :dunce:

Great that butane is pretty harmless according to the msds, excepting of course it's combustible nature.

Still, yuck!

Whipping bho, before it's been properly purged, binds butane into the bho, making it much harder to remove and very unsafe to smoke.

Whipping is a crime, especially if you some with ur buddys..

Anywhere you go you will find all the info given by twitch and ect is constant.

Don't get upset when people who do it professionally and up to the proper standard, tell you your doing something unsafe.

Like I said, it may not sizzle, but that's cause you whipped the terps out and binded the butane to the bho (in my basic terms)

Honestly, drop that shit in everclear I guarantee (along with everyone else) that your shit is unpurged

If you wanna continue poisoning yourself, fine, but don't be rude to people who are only trying to help.

Telling twitch he's wrong is like telling michael Jordan he can't play bball.

For the record, I was wrong! I just did my first run using the "Winterization Process" with 190 Proof EverClear & unbleached coffee filters. The end result is absolutely amazing. I've never had a batch ever this tasty & clean! Who said an old dog can't learn new tricks?

Thanks so much @twitch for enlightening me & for all your help answering my questions so promptly!

shit even power 5x or whip it 5x is better then vector 14x lol

but ya listen to twitch and graywolf/fadedawg

I wish u were around my way.. I got a batch of sugar .. yummyyyyy as fuck.. tastes like concentrated flowers.. the way a bho should taste.. not trim run.. not full plant run.. we pull off all fan leaves and anything without trichs on it.. before harvest.. harvest.. dry.. and then pack freeze and blow.. before any terpenes are lost.. and we get an amazing product.. anything from a shatter to a brown sugar greasy consistency they all smell and taste amazing.. we also use our trim for some people who prefer cheap stuff.. and we use trim for edibles.. I got a batch of cheeba chews omg so strong.
