Yea the sooner would be better but as long as you don't harm any roots in the process, imo, you can get away with transplanting at just about anytime so you could play the waiting game if you really need to.
I think what really helped mine not suffer from any shock was that I transfered it right before the lights went off so it had a good 12 hours to get acclimated without having to focus its energy on other things. Didn't even mean to try this and idk if it's like a common thing to do but it kind of just worked out that my smart pot came in right before lights off and I was eager transplant but from now on anytime I transplant it's going to be right before the dark. Just a tip that could potentially help you out but who knows it could've just been luck that she didn't stress
