Hey I know a lot of us first timers and newbies are interested in LST. Show off you methods and set up, theres tons of us that need more info on LST and ScroG. Pics help!:hump::joint::hump:

Here's mine....

first grow
bagseed
250w MH/HPS
40 days veg under MH
started LST'ing after 2 weeks (I think)
Currently they're 12 days into 12/12 under the HPS, 3 gallon pots

I accidentally broke this stalk. I splinted it and it recovered fully. It's not LST'd as much because I lost about a week while it healed. You can see the scar in the center of the close-up.

I did some trimming last night. They've always been thick with foliage so I've been thinning the lower areas little by little. Last night I trimmed off what seemed like a lot. Before last night's trimming....

Nice! I'm having CF card issues, so all I can show you is what's in my gallery.

Oh my God, my husband is playing fucking Big Country! Mr. Rock & Roll himself is playing new age...?!?

Hawk, that's an interesting technique to the LST. To my eye it looks like you've sort of forced the plant to bush out FIRST, then trained those branches, yes? What I've done is take the main stalk and forced it down, exposing the lower portions of the plant.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Maybe I did do that? I dunno.

Even before LST, they've always seemed short and stocky. Day 17 of veg and before any LST...

I started off by running two lines on each stalk--one higher and one lower. Then I pulled them in opposite directions. I was trying to get a nice curve out of the stalk close to the soil. Those first two lines mostly just bent the stalks over at something less than a 90 degree angle (not necessarily because that's precisely what I was trying to do--that's just what happened). Your gallery pics don't look all that different from how mine once were. I think our plants just grow different more than anything, maybe.

When the end would start growing up, I'd release the end, re-tension the line that pulls the stalk's bottom the opposite way, then tie the top back down. Eventually I stopped using the line at the bottom of the stalk that pulled the opposite way.

This pic was taken on day 28 of veg. The "opposite pull" line seems to be gone by then.

As side shoots would get taller/larger I'd tie them down to an open area (which was usually outward). In a few cases I'd lasso a fan leaf branch and pull it--down, to the side, whatever--to allow a shoot a nice place to grow into/thru.

This pic is 37 days into veg.

These were taken the first day of 12/12 after 40 days veg.

For scale. Also this is the one I broke so it didn't get as much LST:

I kept adding lines until--oh maybe, a week into 12/12. Then I left the lines as they were (except for one or two lines that I loosened recently). Overall, I just did whatever seemed right for accomplishing the goal--->to shorten the plants and trick them into growing multiple tops of similar size.

I thought LST was actually kinda fun. :hump:

beauty hawk, lst is fun, I've been doing it since my plant was little so my whole main stem is almost in the dirt, they thicken up when you do lst, It looks like I have a huge unearthed root with stems shooting out of it all over. you have any pics of them gals in flower?

Very nice LST. BEAUTIFUL flowers. Few more weeks and your there.

+rep for the lovelys and very informative reply. I learned something new.

Such big beautiful plants...

Nice work guys...

Here is some miniature LST...

What do you think...???

Cheers...

Why didn't I think of that? Those clips look like they are really easy to adjust - are they? I've been using the old "holes around the pot rim with paperclips and string" routine. It works fine, but what a pain in the ass it is to keep everything battened down to the proper level. Those clips don't let the string slip, do they?

Great idea - Rep!

GYPSYBUSH - How much did you yield from those 3" bad boys and why so impatient on them?

Im thinking about doing lst like that.. It does seem easier than a scrog:mrgreen:

Very easy to adjust. And no, they don't slip. They are actually very secure and could hold several times the tension I asked them to hold. I highly recommend trying those clips!

BTW, these three plants have been harvested. Total dry weight was 162g (~5 3/4 oz). I'm quite pleased!

Hey Mistery, I have not harvested yet, but I am hoping for around 5 to 10 pounds... I mean grams per plant...LOL... and I have 4 in flowering right now...:leaf::leaf::leaf::weed:

No impatience...
There are a few reasons why I chose to go so small...

If it wasn't for the LST, they would be 3 times taller... (like ... giant man...:eyesmoke:)

I have brought all branches down to the ground and wrapped them around the plant in a spiral... :bigjoint:

I broke my leg last winter and I have been in a hotel room since frebruary... full size would be kinda hard to keep from the cleaning lady...:blsmoke:

And I have to admit I enjoy miniatures... I find it gives me a reason to spend that much more time with the plants.... Bonsai growers could relate, I'm sure...

Anyway, it's just for fun and to keep me sane....

if anyone thinks scrog is hard, you couldnt be more wrong.
instead of a bunch of string tying every branch down, the screen holds everything down on its own, when it starts to grow up you just push it back down to the next hole.

heres a before and 2 after pics
