Derailing the smell and what strains don't emit as much odor

I have 8 skunk red hairs a little over 6 weeks from germination and as the name suggests they have that scent I love. The problem is that the house is very small and the smell reaches upstairs near the basement door. I have "glade plug-ins" in every room of the house and am using a "Holmes Air Purifier" that uses a carbon filter and emits negative ions into the grow room, which I guess are supposed to attach themselves to the odor to make a larger particle that has a better chance of getting caught up in the carbon filter. I saw online from htgsupply that there's an odor killing gel meant to put in front of the fan in the grow room that cuts out the smell. Has anybody used this? Does it work or is there something else I should try (other than a carbon filter attached to an inline fan... i have no feasable place to vent one out where the grow room is located).

Also, this is my first grow and I selected this strain because of it's ease to grow as well as it's low profile height... I don't have space for large strains. All you homegrowers out there, I'm curious to find out what strains you've found don't emit so much odor compared to the typical skunks. Thanx in advance!

i second the problem/question, although i'm going to use c99 which is already low odor. have you considered febreeze plug-ins which actually kill odors in addition to masking them? i wouldn't know if they worked, though.

I recomend you get an ozone generator and put it as near to the front door as us can. this will kill the odor 100%

Just curious....smell not an issue for me...but my buddies wife has an ozone machine from her parents defunct hotel and she says they are hazardous to humans and should only be run when no one will be anywhere near it for 24 hours.......this seems extreme.....I was just stoned and thinking about it..........

Na the ozone gen i've got, u can turn the amount of ozone u pump out up or down from 10% - 100% so its pritty safe. i just leave it on 10% all the time, works a fu#kin treat man

could grow ICE or citral, citral Ive got experience with and it literally has no smell and is pretty forgiving. dont grow ak47 that shit stinks even in day 7 from germination lol. wait what was your question

so the odor killing gel gets rid of odors you like but don't want in the house and replaces them with odors that make you sick... that's messed up. From what I could find around, ozone generators were in the $150+ rage. I'll give the febreeze carbon plug in's a shot before unloading that kind of cash. ... I always thought citral would have a pungent smell to it, but I'll take your word for it. maybe I'll try that for my second batch. Thanx everyone!

i plan to grow cindy 99 i read that it has very low odor. i haven't even heard of 3 of those, but i read somewhere that both juicy and c99 don't not smell completely, as in, anyone who is familiar with the smell of weed will detect it but maybe not someone completely clueless. gotta check me out those other strains.

I was suprised to see someone thought citral had a low odor when growing (at least compared to the skunks)... some of the websites I was looking at for seeds cautioned that it was a strong odor.

...anyone who's interested, I picked up a few of the febreeze "true-air" carbon plug in filters and replaced my glade scented plug ins in 2 rooms and it HAS cut down somewhat on the odor when I get home from work... I'm going to put one in every room!

northern lights was recommended again and strawberry cough was recommended twice as well in the thread.

can someone please compile a list of which seedbanks carry which of these strains? or even, just one reliable time-tested seedbank stocking it.

Check your local grocery or hardware store for a "bad air sponge" They are small jars full of greenish blue goo. Just open the lid and set a few around your grow room and near your front door...they are amazing and under 8 bucks each. I grow white widow and have very little odor. I also have tried some Sour Diesel. I have only one SD clone going now, it is four inches tall and stinks up my entire cabinet.

ICE is out.
