Who's grown Purple Urkle?

I've searched for other grows of this strain, but the search here either sucks or no one has grown it before. I have one in my legal grow and wants to see others pics!

There is NO original Purple Erkle anymore. The entire original strain was destroyed a few years back
in Humboldt. You will not be able to obtain any of this strain. It is impossible!

No one had any clones of it? Wonder what I have then, and why was it sold to me as Purple Urkle!
Never heard of any clones of this extinct strain. If there was Purple Urkle clones then the available clones and
buds would be all over the place and I mean everywhere! This was an extremely popular strain. The clone you have
could possibly be a Grandaddy Purple and if so then you should be very very happy with this elite giant. Envious of you if so!
If you would post pix of your clone, I and others should be able to help you out. The clones of GDP are unmistakable and
very easy to spot.

It's so hard to say what's what with 100% certainty. I see it around. They have it at the clubs. I'm not sure what makes a urkel different then a granddaddy cause they seem very similar.

PurpleUrkle.jpgYeah I adopted this clone from a club, they said it was Purple Urkle. It was written on the Solo cup actually. I've had it less than a month and been lst it for a possible scrog that I still need to do(I may just let it grow out and support it when it needs it.. Anyways here is a picture of what it looks like currently.

I've got 2 purple urkle clones that were given to me by the guy who sold me my light......I'm not sure where he got them from tho so I don't know the "originality" of them lol
j303.jpgView attachment 1780268sept10d.JPGsept10e.JPG They're in 4 weeks flowering and have formed buds quicker than any of the other strains I have...really fruity smelling :)

Nice Pics, the leaves actually are very similar to mine. I've posted another pic taken tonight(the other was from yesterday), it is from the top. I put it into 12/12 on the 8th. It has grown a LOT in the last two days. I ordered a HPS 400w setup that actually came today, but the fedex guy pointed out that the box sounded like it was full of broken glass so it was sent back! My plant:leaf: has been under CFLs 156w total 6500 for the last 4 weeks, and now it is under CFL's 165w 2700 as of the 8th. urkle2.jpg

I just talked with a best friend of mine who has been growing in Eureka, Ca. (Humboldt County) since '79
and he told me the strain is still available there in Humboldt. Another close friend of mine that lives in Arcata
which is 5-6 miles north of Eureka (grew purple erkle switched to og kush 7 years ago and I seen some of his grows) had said it is available
but Kush is the strain of choice to grow up there
in Humboldt. Mostly indoor grows in these towns because they are close to the ocean
so it is cloudy all the time. The outdoor grows are mostly in southern Humboldt such as Garberville, Miranda,
Percy etc... where there is more sun.

Anyhow I hope this helps and
I emailed your plant pic to my bud in Arcata and he said that yes indeed your clone does
very much so resemble the original and true Purple Erkle he grew up there for a few years of that strain.
This strain shows traits of a blue green in certain lighting and sunset. Reminiscent of a tropical strain such
as a Hawaiian. And another tell tale sign is the shape and structure of the leaves of your clones along with
this certain shade of all green. Under certain lighting indoor or under direct sun during the summer fall months the plant will look a nice healthy green and at other times under certain lighting and at sunset the blue/green will be prominent and look even better. Beautiful plant btw!

from what i understand u can only get purple thru clones(i know it sounds dumb) but i got it from an article at the hightimes website it doesnt say to much but here it is By Subcool

Purple Urkel is a clone-only strain that seems to be the rage among medical clubs and cannabis connoisseurs. Danny Danko asked me to do some research on the popular strain and report on our current project using an Urkel clone mother. Purple Urkel is known for growing somewhat slowly, but its other traits make it very desirable. It turns an amazing purple late in bloom, possesses the most amazing grape/lavender flavor and gives a nice strong stone. But where did it come from?

Purple Urkel or Humboldt Purple (a.k.a. Purple Urple) has been growing in southern Humboldt County since approximately 1989. The Mendo cats are responsible for renaming it “Lavender,” among several other names. A good friend, White Trash Redneck, has grown the Mendocino Lavender cut side by side with the Humboldt Purple Urple/Urkel—as well as the Bridgeville Black Afghan, Nepalese Purple, Pakistani Purple Kush and Tooty Fruity Purple—and he swears they’re all the same cut, renamed.

White Trash Redneck also went on to tell me that the Humboldt Purple cut seems to be an old-school IBL, or Inbred Line, making it ideal for use in breeding projects. He’s bred more than 20 Urkel hybrids and has been impressed with all of them. I’ve discovered quite a few other Purples that are likely the same cut as well, going by such names as Garberville Purple Kush (a.k.a. Swerve’s Cut), Mendocino PK and Kyle Kushman’s PK. An Internet source I’ll leave unnamed says about Kyle’s PK:

Kyle Kushman’s “Purple Kush” is the plant that made Kushman famous after a photograph of the Kush made the cover of the New York Times Magazine about 12 years ago.The magazine is not a weed-centric publication, and the article stated how much real money is made by indoor gardening based on black-market forces and the technology that was in place then (grow lights, seeds, hydro systems, etc). In the article the grower (presumably Kyle) states that the plant was found in a group of Northern Lights x Purple Indica seeds. Kyle was living out east at the time and soon became a writer for HIGH TIMES.

I would assume that the Mendocino and Garberville versions are the exact same, as this is prime herb-growing country here in North Cali, and it would be really easy for one grower to give a clone to another fellow grower. The Emerald Triangle (Humboldt, Mendocino and Trinity Counties) is known for the quantity of MJ it produces, both indoor and outdoor.

Right on, at least now I have better proof that it is indeed a Purple Urkle. Can't wait to see it start flowing, maybe I'll start a grow journal!

the flavor is what sets Urkel aside from any other purple strain. even Grape ape doesnt taste like Urkel, Purple Urkel tastes like you took a spoon full of fruity pebbles and shoved it in your mouth. GDP tastes more grapeish to me at least
