NEED HELP 1st GROW

Im looking to start my first grow after years of research and finally being able to. I still live at home but my parents dont have anything against me growing weed it just had to be stealth and not have too much odor cause i have a young brother and sister so they couldnt find out. I was looking at buying cases/ grow boxes, I have the money and its just more convinient than making one id say.

There are similar ones, i would be willing to add lighting or change the lighting if needed, i know the difference in led vs hps vs hid vs cfl's, but i was thinking cfls in a reflective case cause no heat and are pretty good yielding

it has a carbon filter and i could leave the case open at night for more air circulation if necessary

ive spent years looking at strains and genetics and i have a list of all the strains ive smoked, so far im at 52, however i dont know whether i should grow an/some autoflowering strains, or normal strains most likely under 12/12 lighting from seed


please help me out

with these grow boxes, a small height of 22 inches (although with LST) doesn't produce a high yield (if that's what you're aiming for). Personally, i would choose the second option, as there is more space and investing in such a stealthy grow area as a PC case when you have permission doesn't seem very logical, the larger case can still be put inside a cupboard or something, and hey, if you're rlly worried about your brothers and sisters, just put a lock on it. Since you're a first time grower and going for 12/12 from seed I highly suggest auto's, good yield from a small space with a lesser hassle. How many are you planning to grow? making a grow box that fits your needs is not very hard to make, (im sure you know that) so I would not choose any of them if you're aiming for quantity and quality.

Thanks Sir Smoke alot i've looked at hundreds of small box and pc and cupboard grows, really what ive noticed is yield is mostly dependant on the lights, then whether its hydroponics or soil, size is true however with LST and SOG and SCROG height isnt really a big factor, ive asked many people about there heights with a scrog or lst and they say they keep it under a foot and a half, 16 inches, i could always lsd and scrog Im more concerned about the choices i got to make

you are right on the pc grow case, its just more convinient like i said, i only have to order 1 unit and it all comes assembled and i could even add lighting to it if i could/wanted to
i would be putting it in my room and i dont want it to stand out, i will continue thinking of places to grow in,

Its pretty big it can hold 3 of my 2L pots, that being said i can expect around 10-25g / plant, in 70-75 days if all went well id yield 30-70g organically (soil) ive seen every autoflowering strain and the one that most appeals to me is called "auto critical mass" it can get big and yield upto 3oz a plant, if i keep it lst and scrog it shouldnt be a problem for height ive seen it all done before, check this grow its similar to mine http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=146324&page=9


going back to my other option: hydroponics, i could put 2 plants in a hydroponics system with the pc grow box, i would have more seeds than needed incase some didnt make it so if all went well i could have 2 plants either autoflowering or 12/12 from seed so id be looking at 20-32 g/ plant yielding anywhere from 40-64 g every 70-75 days

man, after seeing the prices of those boxes i think i found my new profession. could easily build one for under 100 dollars and about a half a days work. get creative and build something yourself that will work perfectly for the space you have. then with all the money you saved you can get a 150w HPS light and your grow will be that much more amazing.

I agree with SirSmoke. Autos are a great choice. Compact fast and easy. Ive just harvested a Greenomatic that came in at 60days from seed and is wonderful to smoke

Also, you are going to want as much space as you can get. Is your main goal to see how much equipment you can shoehorn into a PC case or is it to grow dope?

Well man i just wanna grow good dope and get a good harvest so i dont have to buy any, the more powerful the lights the more i can yield seeing they are cfl's so it wont get too hot

Well before you make a final choice do the math:

For HID the rules of thumb are about .5g/W at 50W per sq m per 3months. ( a low end estimate). So if you want 1oz/per month thats 3oz per harvest approx 90g. So you need 180W over about 1/3 sq m. About 3sq ft. A small tent running a 250WMH would do very nicely.

If you make a seperate veg box, it can be very small, you can get a full harvest every 2months.

That's a ballpark estimate for a MH setup with a modest yield. I dont have much experience with CFLs but I have read you need to figure 1W CFL = 05.W MH.

In your choice of light you also need to think about the height of your tent. My 600W HPS in an air cooled hood requires about 1' of space what with the mounting brackets etc. My pots are 9" - 18". So thats 2.5' spoken for before I have any room for plant height. I expect a small light will be more compact but you still need to look at that issue carefully.

I think it's very cool you can talk to your parents about this. When my kids were in HS, they smoked dope, I smoked dope and we all kept it a secret from each other

Some even separate closets from veg, flower, and clone!! you have to check them out. Please only look into PC cases if you are living in a college dorm. Send me a message with what you think, I am new to the website so i dont know how to track responses lol. But the PC boxes are almost useless unless you want a minimum amount. Lowryders are awesome to use but remember, you cannot clone them and you will need to surgically remove your arm and sell it to get the seeds from a website (they are expensive).
