I've got my first indoor grow rocking and rolling on a 18/6 cycle under 6500k cfls, but I have no clue how long I should let them grow will I switch to bloom. Any milestones I should be looking for?
When they are big enough, Change the light's to 2700k cfls and switch the light to 12/12. it'l show sex pretty quick. Don't do it when they are to small because if you want to grow the plants big you want veg to be as long as possible. Unless your doing the SOG method. But, You should also start using some good nutes when the hairs show to kick it into budding.
Everyone who grows indoors has a different grow space. And obviously you don't want to exceed that. Unless you are training, switch to 12/12 when you are about 1/3 of your total usable height. As a rule of thumb, your plants will triple in height during flower if they are healthy. But whenever possible, let them mature into having alternating/staggered nodes which can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks.
1' is a good milestone to 12/12 them. Just consider the fact that plants may stretch more than twice their size or even triple in size by the end of its lifecycle.
