Looks like I just wasted the last 6 months of my life! I went to harvest my 1st grow today only to find that the main cola was covered in mold leaving me only a couple of little popcorn buds. FUCK MY LIFE

That sucks, looks like it would have been some nice smoke. Go with the oil, may as well get something good out of it.

Well its my own fault for sure. I couldnt realy see the back side of the plant untill I pulled her out of the closet for harvesting.

Hexane is the number one way of making cheap non pressed olive and garlic oils. It evaporates away completely. Besides how is smoking any better then ingesting? lol

Im glad to know all is not lost. Turns out I have all the simple labware required to make oil. All the tutorials I found though were for using shake, not bud. Do I need to completely dry it and powder it still? or just chop it up and start boiling it in hexane?

What do you think was the culprit...
Lack of air circulation?
Humidity too high?

Very sorry to see that happened, BTW

There was plenty of air circulation but humidity was left unchecked. I also had misted the bottoms of my fan leaves a few times becuase I was affraid I had underwatered. Totaly preventable, Live and learnbongsmilie

For making the oil you want your bud as dry as possible. The more moisture you have in the mix the greener the oil will be. Green oil means that some of the plant material is in the mix as well as THC. THC dissolves in alcohol and all the other shit dissolves in water. I read somewhere that it has to do with polar and non-polar particles, but to explain simply: Less moisture=Good.

let it dry COMPLETELY leaves and all, then you do the leaves and the buds and voila after the hexane dissipates you will have concentrated thc for your consumption

Alcohol is semi polar and will dissolve a lot of the "other shit" as well. but anyways Ive got a nice drying box set up w/ fans and a 2 pound bag of silica crystals. Should be dry in a few days.

I did toss the fan leaves out but I didnt trim the buds real close sense its all going in the coffee grinder.

If I where you, I would be cutting all the moldy bits out NOW, if you don't the mold will spread to the entire bud.
