ya id doubt u have a 50 amp breaker.. but its most likley if its 110 itll be like a 15 or 20 amp breaker.. if its in a room. and if u have a portable a/c unit, probably around 1,000w itself plus the ballast and fans, your already over the limit. if ur flippin breakers ur getting too hot.
ya use ur 240 receptical for your 1000watt ballast..just switch out the cord, and slot if its anything like my old magnetic ballast itll have 2 slots 1 for 110 , 1 for 220v. runnin it at 220 does ease the amp load in half...but either way an a/c unit and a 1000watt ballast on a 15 or 20 amp breaker is NO GOOD!!!!
ok ay so it may be a 50 amp being u say its located in the laundry room *got ur pm. im not sure how old the wiring is or the breakers. id have to see it all really...but wut u can do is this .. im not sure how big ur op is .. or wut ur shooting to do.. if ur jsut wanting to run the 1 1000watter and a/c ..ur major electrical draw is from these items.. plug the ballast in2 the 240v recepticle, and keep the a/c where its at. that should stop the breaker flipping problem altogether, and make sure not to plug too much shit in with the a/c. otherwise, research master light controllers, or ecxpandable horticuture outlets. for say the light controller, u could wire the existing 240v line to that, and then it has a lead that plugs in2 110 through a standard timer, and then you have 4 1000w recepticles on 1 box. sounds like u just wanna get it to stop popping wut ur running , so just seperate the a/c from that ballast.
