Banana Method?!?

Does the "banana method" actually work? has anyone tried it? for those who don't know what it is I copied this from another thread

"get 2 normal yellow bananas from the supermarket.Peel the bananas, and save the "peels"..now get a ziplock bag,and throw the peels in there..use the paper towels to prevent the seeds from actually touching the peels. Now close the bag tight, and leave this in a dark, cool area...As the bananas "rott",they give off a natural gas called Ethylene..this gas is used to ripen many crops faster, and is theorized to actually feminize cannabis seeds..it has been tested on other legal crops, and yes there was 100% female ratios!!

Now every other day or two, open the bag and let it air out, just as if the seeds were "curing"...once the peels get very rotten, replae them with fresh ones...do this for ATLEAST 2 weeks..and just germinate as normal!!

This is still a "theory"in the cannabis community, however test it out for yourself!!Make sure to document the results !!!"

I've heard of the banana theory but not the part about peels. I've read many threads in other forums on the subject and they all pretty much alluded to just putting a whole banana next to the sprout. There are no scientific conclusions so using just the peel might be just as good. I'd still opt for the whole banana tho.

I was the one who wrote that...and there is no point in outting a whole abana nect to the actual plant..do it while they are seeds...the Ethylene will permeate the actual seeds..and make them females!!Dont believe me,try it out!!Forget all about putting the whole banana next to a live plant, just seeds....as it naturally rots, vegetables realease the gas Ethylene...whcih is the same chemical that alot of people use on their crops....try it out!!

I got about 10 old bananas from work today that are gonna end up in my compost pile. Hopefully composted bananas have the same effect. I'll let you know in a couple months :p

could be good but not for me as i normally order feminised seeds. wouldnt mind trying it if i knew it worked on 3 normal seeds i have on the way

i doubt it. it never takes 2 weeks to germinate so, if so those would be some karnl tap roots shit:cuss:
Not two weeks to germinate smart one, two weeks with the banana peels, then regular germination. Supposedly ripening the seeds and allowing the more dominant chromosomes to be active, ie them being female. A lot of research has been done with things like banana peels and other fruits to other types of legal plant seeds with good results.
Share the knowledge! And spread the weed! Tis all we humans need.:bigjoint:

Thanks for that post..I was about to serve that guy lol :cuss:..anyways yes there has been some tests on a crop..I forgot the name, and the results were feminized seeds...the whole point in this is using the Ethylene that the banana gives off as it naturally decomposes..the ziplock bag traps the gas in there with the seeds..so it can permeate the seeds membranes..:eyesmoke:Try it out ...

Someone out here has done this. I read it about 2 months ago.
Try to keep this thread bumped, eventually the person that did it will see it and reply.
I remember he had pics and was documenting it daily.

no gnats

i started them as soon as it went from 24 hour light to 18/6 and i bought the bananas till mostly green and i took them out as soon as they got about as spotted as they are in the second pic there

it also gave the grow room a pleasant smell imo

indeed it was a success

all i know is that i got 100% females the first time i tried it

and all i can say is that it CANT HURT

as long as you dont let the banans rot to the point where there just mush and smell really bad they wont attract any flies or anything
