The three DWC plants are all looking better today. Their color is nice and green on the new growth and they seem to be getting over the drooping. last night I trimmed all the dead off of the plants, added another 3.1ml of iguana juice which brings me up to 6.2ml for 12L res. That is the recommended amount of grow for week 1 on the AN calculator. The res is now at 69ppm, so there is 50ppm of added tds in res. One thing im curious about is that on the AN calculator there is a recommended ppm. However they also have you adding 6 or 7 different additives. If im not using the other additives do I use more grow to get my ppm up or do I just use the recommended amounts of the few products im using and settle for a lower ppm?
The other thing im running into is ph fluctuation. Im using RO water and I adjust ph down to 5.5-5.8....24 hours later it is always around 6.6-6.8. Is it normal to have to adjust ph down everyday by between.8 and 1? Is this too drastic of a ph change to be doing everyday?

On the other side of the room we have the soil bunch....they are doing awsome!!! nice color, good growth and all the leaves are looking very happy. I will post some pics tomorrow.

If anyone has any insight to share on either the ph thing or the tds lvls....pass it on :)

Whats up man,
Glad to hear you got some response from your babies. I would try a higher ppm. I think they will handle it. Iam not sure with your nutes though. Organics are a tricky one in DWC. I would ask around and find someone that uses those nutes or try something new like a 3 part system AN or GH are both great products. I am having a smooth grow using GH nutes and the Lucas formula...it's cheap too. I used a veg formula and then switched to Lucas formula after I switched to bloom. Ph stays 5.8-6.1 after I adjust the water I add to the res every other day. They are drinking about a gallon every other day. Wish I could help a little more with the AN organics.

its all good man. im gonna give it a cppl days and bump up to 150ppm. Im at 90 now and the girls are starting to green up and straighten out. its amazing how fast they react to changes in the res. im still having to adjust ph every morning by 1/2 to 1 point but I dont think it has any effect on them. Im hoping once I get to a higher ppm it will stabilize.
thanks again for the help Zep, and I hope you are enjoying that smoke!!

PS im gonna change nutes to a chemical setup after Im done with these organics..... cant let em go to waste.

So I had to take some pics. These plants are rebounding great!! I think i may just get control over this dwc. Notice how strong and resiliant the trainwreck have been....

Besides posting a few pics I wanted to get some opinions on something. I was wondering if The ppm on the AN nutrient calculator (which was made up of 10 products or so) should be achieved with whatever products you are using from the lineup. so if i only have 3 out of 10 recommended products, do i still want a to get my solution up to the ppm on the calculator. So I called Advanced Nutrients tech support. They told me that I should just use the recommended amounts of the products I have. They also said "dont even worry about ppm or ec with the organic nutes because they dont even apply to organic nutes." He went on to say that the readings I have been taking are useless and inaccurate..."just use products as directed by calculator, dont waste your time with ppm or ec"

Any thoughts?

re plant to soil while you still can, itll pay off
While soil is organic and to be honest to easy, its also a longer process, and the plants will be smaller and the buds will have an earthier 'garden-grass' taste! I'll subscribe n help you man if thats cool? - STELTHY:leaf:

I agree about the nutes. Keep it lower than you would ever imagine. I tried using Fox Farms feeding schedule and burned the crap out of my first try. So this time I've been using 1/4 strength for 4 weeks and finally worked up to 1/2 strength nutes for weeks 5 and 6. Less is better.
Yea, less is better.. BUT NOT ALWAYS!! :bigjoint:

Ive been pumping my Glass Slipper plants up to 3200 ppm using fox Farm.

Not a single leaf burn whatsoever.:weed:

Big Time Growth!!!!

Fox farms is GRRRREEAAAT :hump:

My strain is Loving it!!!!!

Well as I stated earlier AN told me ppm dosnt apply to thier organic nutes. The guy had faith that the nute calculator is acurate and the end all be all....so far so good. I did have a little green goin on in the res from light leaking through the net pots...the last pictures posted show that I have put mylar over the net pots so no more light leaks. I did a res change today to get rid of the algae and I added grow/tarantula/piranha at the recomended dose for seedlings in week 2. AN considers 3 or 4 true leaf sets week 1 as seedling. week 3 of seedling is week 1 of veg.....I did the res change this morning so if the plants are going to get nute burn, I should see signs of it by tomorrow. I asked the AN guy about my ph as well. It roams from 5.5 to 6.5ish in 24 hours. He told me that the plants are taking in nutes and this causes ph fluctuation. he also said that I should just adjust my ph every 36-48 hours......I dont know though. I havnt let it go that long, but what if over 48 hours your ph goes to 8 or 9..... So far the plants are doing ok with daily ph adjustment so I think ill just stick with that.

I really appreciate all the help peeps +rep for all :)

So its a sad day in my DWC world....... opened up the cabinet and the smell of rotting roots hit me in the face like a ton of bricks. After all the bull shit they have been through..Root rot. Im gonna leave DWC for my 2nd maybe 3rd grow.
I cleaned the good roots off, took the cubes out of the net pots and stuck those little fers right into a soil mix. I now have 4 healthy plants in soil under the 250watt MH and 3 under cfl's Im pretty confident that shit is gonna happen now.

Thanks to all the people that tried to help me along with the DWC. I have not given up though. I plan to try again with some clones from Trainwreck and church. I guess my journal is in the wrong section now...... lol

Ill post some pics this weekend some time..Cheers,
JJB.

hey brother...just got finished reading about dwc grow...sounds like a small problem or questions about feeding...this is the way i have been doin it for many years....What levels should I maintain for my hydroponic nutrient, temperature, pH and TDS/EC?
How do I tell if my PPM/EC is too high or too low?if my PPM/EC is too high or too low?
your meter won't lie and your plants will thank you...this is probably my first and last post here because i read these things for amusement and like to see all of the "new" things people come up with....makes me laugh... i like to bubble in buckets, just in case i have a problem(root rot) it's isolated to just one plant...if you use a tote don't mix strains...you can bubble just like anybody else...it's very satisfying looking @ that big mass of roots in the bucket...as a matter of fact ...it's the only reason for me not growing outside...oh yea, my version of LST is a 20' piece of 5/16 rope, a tent stake, and a 6lb beater....later
