well I got bored so I dug around the house and made this thing do yall i think itll work lol and yes i kno none of its the rite stuff but hey it was made from stuff under my sink

Whats the medium in the planter?? I don't really have any experience with that style so I'm not the guy to say yes or no, but that is pretty cute..:) Is there an airstone in the mix, or just the tube?? Stones do help alot, and they aren't that much $$$ at all..
 
lol yeah me neither im more of an outdoor guy this is like i said i got bored but its jus some gravel in a bowl lol and a home made airstone( ie a pen tube with pin holes poked in it) hooked to an ole fish tank air pump it bubbles real good... and remember this build was jus to build somethin and the plant is jus for reprensentation to see if it roots all an experiment if yall think itll work ill go get some hydro stuff bein none of my outdoor stuff works with this lol
 
Looks like it'll work just fine, haha.

Maybe get a better medium if you get serious about your mini hydro. :hump:
 
I dunno if that matters that much as long as the roots can penetrate it since its a bubbler.. Gravel is alot heavier than most mediums though.. if you want to spend no money yet improve your medium, grab a few chuncks of lava-rock, put in a sturdy bag, and smash it with a hammer..
On the lave rock note, I've been meaning to see if I could fashion an airstone out of a chunk..
 
ill see if theres some layin around hell why not try it, nothin better to do lol
i think the airstone idea mite work if your careful when you drill it so it dont break

I don't normally condone theft for this hobby, but I dunno if a pocket full of eddging rocks really counts.. Lowryder's point is a good one.. You want that heavily aerated.. On the LR bubbler I mentioned, you'll want to seal that tube in there really well to avoid the air travelling bacwards through your hole.. (I'm thinking either silicone, or Gorilla Glue.. (GG (or polyurethane gle in general is unbelievable! BE CAREFUL with it, you've been warned..:) )
Oh, I'd also light-block that thing as best you can..
Ever notice that most of those tree-hugging recycle nazi's don't reduce/reuse worth shit?? They only focus on that last and least important R..:)
 
okay i wrapped it foil then slid a nother butter bucket over it , covereed the lid in foil and electrical tape its dark as night in there now, i was working at a neighbors house and they jus happened to have lava rocks so lucky day now its a mix of lava rocks and pebbles ,lol i took a cutting not the best one i could of but my ladys out side are getting over that heat stroke so i dont wanna stress em, so well see if it works or not ,, oh and so more bubbles then ill see what i can do

and yeah i hate that we ( pot smokers) get thrown into the same group as the tree huggers they give us a bad name, some really do some good but not many
 
Pot smokers range from tree-huggers to those who were born to clear-cut.. I was just commending you for making that from stuff in everybody's recycle bin..:)
Soundes like an ideal way to light-proof though, Now, what temperature is that water??

i kno what you mean but theres alot of em i wouldnt wanna be associated with...
but anyway back to the project at hand

temp is 76 to 78, the gauge is wierd lol i think thats a lil warm but its room temp

any suggestions are appreciated ,

heres a thing i drew so you guys can make one to try.. if yall want

I know a lot of tree-hugging recycle nazi's, consequence of being one, and every one of 'em does a great deal to reduce and also finds lots of creative ways to reuse. I'm calling shenanigans, I think you're imagining these hypocrite tree hugging nazi's! :-P

kho20, I like your setup. Next step is to keep your eyes open for larger containers. If you have kittens, you can get one of those big fresh step plastic containers of litter. It's the perfect dimensions for a good sized cabinet grow. ;-)
 
I'm just used to the sort who are into it to get laid.. Trust me, go to a campus..
I do know there are some who honestly try, but most are the biggest fucking hypocrits on the planet..
