CFL cage??

Hey so quick question. :P

I was using my brain earlier and i thought, obviously CFLs are great because you can hang them to be close to our plants, what if.... What If we built a mini cage around the bulb and put it in between the plants/branches :o? The cage would keep the lights from burning and putting them in the plant would give 100% light instead of losing some on the way down.

Would this work? Has it been done? Im imagining you could buy them (found some wooden fancy ones online ) or cheaply bend some wire to make one?

It would still burn the leaf's lol.. too much light i think would burn them even with the cage on it the heat radiating and what not.
