Hey guys Im growing in a DWC with 200w of mixed cfls right now and will be flowering with over 300w. My plants are NL and afgan x mazar (the taller ones) all regular seeds. Theyre almost 5 weeks now from seed.

Everything seems to be going well but now what? Top, LST, FIM, go into flower, take clones?

I see that I can clone the afgan x mazar as there are branches with new leaves and older leaves on them but on the NL, all there seems to be is a branch with one leaf coming off, even on the biggest one. Whats with that? I was going to top or FIM but it seems like there is always tons of new growth on my tops. Was thinking of LST but wonder if I should wait till I know the sex of them. The afgan x mazar are both over a foot tall now and the NL are all about 7-9 inches tall so should I go into flower??

Sorry for all the questions, Ive read and read but just want some insite to my grow.

hey if i was you i would low stress train them right now that they are in vegg becuase u dont want to stress them while in flowering, but first you should take a cutting from each plant, root it,put it under 12/12 and then you will find out which plant is female and male without having to put the whole plant under 12/12 and taking cuttings after flowering,u should not clone while flowering,it will take to long to revert to veg then flower again, just my 2cents

LST will give u a way bigger yeild with new growth exploding from your branches, doubling the size of your plants and having them short and stalky

These are not fem seeds? They are going to get crowded but if you know you will be culling one or more males I'd let them go another week or so then flower.

sounds like you're in the same boat as me, except at least you have known strains. im just using bagseed.... but i havent done any of the training or topping yet because i have yet to sex my plants. they are almost 5 weeks old and on day 4 of flowering now and i still don't see any sign, other than looking down on the plants some of them are starting to lighten in color at the tops of each branch ( preflowers? ). but anyways, i threw them into flower to sex them, and as soon as i know i'll take clones from the females, then i'll spend the time to top them and train them. kind of pointless to do the work to the males if any.... i started with 6 seedlings and looking like 4 females. but still need more time.

Man if your going to get your clones get them as i would start flowering those are some nice plants and you dont want to let them get to big as the cfls will not cover trust me i run atleast 20 cfls at a time and still have spots id like bud to grow more but dont your looking atleast 2 ft plant sby the time your thru if you flower now good luck by the way those are truly a nice grow and dont top them

No my other grow in my 5 gallon bucket has 2 femd WW and one Femd PE in it. They are in a seperate room and doing really well. So funny I was just about to PM you to come check out my thread bc I value your opinion.....and here you are! Yeah I bet one or more will be males.

I TOP at TWO and 4 weeks, so it is sort of late now for that. I start FLOWERING at MATURITY, and that comes on Indica and on N/L after 5 weeks. Also, when you can see a new leaf without an opposing leaf directly across from it. (Post as a child always makes duplicate nodes, or all leaves have a twin leaf across from it) An Adult plant ready to naturally start Flowering and making "pre-flowers" while still in 24/7 show new leaves without one across from it.

I see that I can clone the afgan x mazar as there are branches with new leaves and older leaves on them but on the NL, all there seems to be is a branch with one leaf coming off, even on the biggest one. Most growers who VEG to maturity will do the Topping, Pruning and Fimming in the first 4 weeks of VEG.

WHEN DO I START 12/12 FLOWERING CYCLE?

The longer the VEG cycle, the more the yield.
Consider this, in nature, outdoors, we plant a seed in mid to late April. It grows through April, May, June, July, and in mid to late July, as the sun's rays change, the plant naturally changes from VEG to FLOWER, with the diminishing sun's rays. That is nature's way. The plant grows and matures to an adult plant for about 3 to 4 months. THEN, it makes flowers. That is nature's way.
Indoors, in HYDRO with feeder tubes, we cut that time in half, by using 24/7 LIGHT. instead of 3 months, or 13 weeks, it takes about 6 weeks to become a mature plant in HYDRO, with 24/7 LIGHT.

OK, also in nature, we see most animals and humans reproduce at maturity or adulthood. If a human, (or dog or any animal) is forced to make babies before maturity, like getting a 12 yr old girl pregnant, then the babies are weak, or runts, or deformed, and just not at their best.
A dude here, a most experienced, knowledgable grower named fdd2blk (and a MOD here too) taught me a long time ago, that it does not make sense, it is not wise, it is not logical, to make a child have a child, and it is not wise or smart or logical to make an immature baby plant, have babies. LET THE BABIES GROW AND LET THE ADULTS MAKE BABIES.

If you will VEG for 5 weeks, to 6 weeks, you will have more time for proper TOPPING, PRUNING, AND FIMMING, and you'll get bigger plants, and you will also have a mature adult plant, ready to make healthy, stronger babies (flowers) .

If you begin Indica Flowering, after VEGGING 3 or 4 weeks, you will harvest about 60% to 75% of what you would have harvested, IF you had waited and VEGGED for 5 or 6 full weeks.

This info applies to rapid growing in Hydro, and to Indica strains. NOT slowly in SOIL, and NOT Sativa.

I average 3 to 4 ounces per plant, VEGGING 5 to 6 weeks, and I have gotten 7 ounces from one plant.

Thanks man! On the NL though, can I clone just a leaf? They have no branches shooting off them and some of the leaves are 5 inches!

You think I should LST them? Or wait till I sex them?

It is time to take cuttings for clones.

Whacking the MALES
Damn man you really help out a lot. Thanks! Did you see my question on the NL cloning? I want to and will take clones tonight as you suggest but how do I take a clone off then NL? They are just huge leaves attached to the main stem, no branching out on any NL. Can I just cut one of the lower leaves off of the NL and hope it roots? I guess I'll take 2 clones off each plant?

you cant clone from a leaf well you can if you got all kinds of really sophisticated stuff but I have not seen anyone successfully do it. thats odd that the NL dont have any side branches to clone mine had all kinds by 3 weeks of age. as far as topping or lsting thats up to you on how you would like to go about things. the last grow that I did I just let the plants grow normally and when they started to get to tall I started bending them and rearranging them so each branch would get more light but as I progressed further into flowering towards the end I found it very difficult to do this. it was basically cause everything was so crowded in there it was more of a fight to move branches around eachother without causing damage. this time around I am going to top and veg longer, basically try and manage my canopy better and more efficiently use my area. thanks for inviting me to help and I appreciate your comments on my opinion. goodluck.

Thanks man, as you know my girls had a rough childhood. Maybe that has something to do with them not branching out? Idk, lights just went off so I'll take some pics of the NL tonight, post and see what you think.
