Hey everyone,
Ive searched for some answers but I cant find anything too helpful on topping,

So I decided just to ask. I dont understand when to top and really where to make the cut!
Ive been reading alot of threads on it and just really find a good answer

so if someone could tell me where and when I would love you :D

Here is a picture of one of my plants i have so far, the one i plan on topping.

If you need another picture just ask and i can take another.

I read that post ): I just dont understand, like People say you can do it with your finger but i dont see where! and I dont know if my plant is old enough :P Like I understand it. But I just dont get the when and where ya know?

get a brand new razor blade, you see where the two larger leafs are coming off the main stem, and theres that little bit of new growth in the center coming out, you want to go in a straight line and slice off that new growth at a horizontal angle and leave the two big leafs as displayed by the bottom line.Thats Topping.
Or you can cut it where the top line is, which is FIM, causes even more shoots to come off sometimes

thank you! should I do it now or wait a little longer? or does it matter?
And that picture even helps like now it completely makes sense

but See you put it in simple words which helped,
thats really what I wanted.

Don't bother topping. Do the pinching technique instead. Exactly where hankdank said to top the plant, just take your fingers and pinch the stem. It sends a message to the plant just like topping does, but you get to keep those valuable leaves. Keeping those leaves producing will only help you get more Buds! Even if your skeptical, try topping some and then pinching others. Let me know what happens!! im positive you'll be impressed!

How hard would i pinch it? Like until it breaks just a little bit?

I got ya bro. Well i don't top often but I'll try and explain for ya. first off u can technically top anytime, anywhere. Of course u want second shoots comin off the main stem. When u top u want to punch off the very top 2/3 of new growth, the very small leaves at the top. I've always left a little stob at the top. u can do it to any branch anywhere on the plant. I hope this helps. Ask any ?s and ill try to help out and maybe others will also

So could I just get some toe nail clippers and just cut a tiny bit off too? would that be more easy than a razor?

yeah you can clip it off that way if you think you can do it properly, but you need to sterilize the clippers as best you can, thats the point of using a new unopened razor

If I did it that way, would I do it at a slight angle?

If u want u could bro. It'll make the stem thicker also while it recoops

Well i put some more soil around the base of the stem it looked really thin to me.
but really? Thats cool I didnt know it would get thicker :D im excited to do it now to see how much it changes the plant :D

this is my second grow BTW
my first didnt turn out too well. :P ventilation was a huge issue :P

With your plant i would transplant to it's future home before topping and bury the skinny stem almost to the first leaf set.

Wait about 10 days after transplant then top; a bush will be yours in no time.
