Plant selection questions???

I am starting a DWC SOG under 1 1000w HPS (in a 4x2 tent)(rockwool cubes in net pots) and for my first run I am planning on breaking 20-30 seeds and watching them grow and choosing the best plant at the end of the cycle to make my mother plants. That will then be the strain/plant/clone grown in the grow tent at all times. I have another tent for my mothers and clones. I just have a few questions and or would appreciate some input.
First: Anything that you could tell me to help me would be great or any links that you could post.
:Will I experience much difference between a clone going straing into the rockwool and to the dwc bin vs a seedling?
:I was thinking I should keep ppm decently low so that I don't f up the plants that take less nutes (although should I take the opposite approach and weed out all the weak ones?)
:Should I start them with just pure H20?
:Is lollipopping ok from seed? Maybe veg another week or so?
Should I top feed until roots come all the way through? (Usually my clone's roots are already through before they go in wanna grow my own strain now tho)
:And anything else that would help... THANKS!!!

A seedling will have more vigorous growth than a clone.
I always use some liquid karma. Depending on the strain 1-2 tsp per gallon when soaking the cubes. Make sure to pH your water too.
Don't know, although i've heard that optimally you want to veg from seed for 2 months before you throw them into flower (don't have any personal experience on this to say how this helps). This allows the plant to sexually mature.
Seedlings are soo young that they hardly need (if any) nutes.

On a side note: its been almost a year since i've popped seeds in rockwool. Your best bet is just to do a search. Thats what I did and had 100% germination.

This might help: https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/298898-having-trouble-root-growth-rockwool.html

Also, your right about keeping the ppms low. With marijuana, less is always more. Anyway, you won't necessarily be 'weeding' out the weaklings. If you have some die due to high ppms most likely even the more tolerant ones are suffering too but aren't showing any immediate signs (unless your extremely familiar with the strain in which case you will notice the slowed growth)

Explain more of your setup. What are you using as reservoir? What are you gonna use to flower?

You'll definitely experience less vigor in growth with clones, because they're diverting most of their energy to root formation at that point, while seeds can utilize all of their energy towards shoot/root-growth.

Just work your way up when you begin feeding. You'll soon get a feel for how much they're eating and the differences throughout the batch.

If you're starting out with seeds, yes begin with just ph-ed water (some strictly use distilled or RO water). If you're putting in clones with a root system, also begin with ph-ed water, but as soon a a sustainable root system is in place, you should begin a light feeding regiment, progressing up to a full feeding when they're old enough.

Be careful lollipopping too early, as not to stress out the plant. Don't do too much trimming at a time when they're young.

Yeah, top feed until they need it.

Ya Briester that sexual maturity point is good I am going to look into that. I would assume that it wouldn't be two months though but more like one, hopefully, ill get to that though.

Thx ooli. I'm usin somewhere round 35 gallon rubbermaid bins. If you mean nutes I am going to use AN havn't decided which one yet. And a 1000w hps light in the 4x2 tent w/ co2. And yeah I think I am going to veg them until theyre aroun 8 inches and the flip them to flower and trim em a week in or so. If theyre too bushy or just too big cause I vegged them longer than normal ill just pull some of the weak ones. Thx.
