Correct me if I’m wrong but co2 supplementation is pointless if the environment isn’t setup so that the plant requires the co2 supplementation.
You're spot on with one edit:

My understanding is that lacking a sealed grow environment, increasing CO2 levels is pissing away your money.*

Assuming that we can't add CO2 to our grows on a cost-effective basis, the challenge is to optimize the other nine factors of the grow environment.

*"seems to be" because that's what "conventional wisdom" says but I've never seen a discussion of it. I've got a few months before my next grow (I grow in a garage in Southern California so I don't grow in summer) and I'm considered getting some actual data on it.

I don’t think the edit changes the accuracy Of the statement. It’s a matter of semantics.
I did some reading on a old Nebula Haze page and he says

“the rate of photosynthesis in plants is limited by the resource that’s in the shortest supply. That means if you don’t have enough CO2 to use all the light available, the plant’s growth will be limited by the amount of CO2 in the air. The well-established principle of plants being limited by their scarcest resource is known as Liebig’s Law of the Minimum.”

So the plant would only “require” co2 supplementation if it’s the most lacking resource in the environment.
Or the plant would only “support” co2 supplementation if it’s the most lacking resource in the environment.

not trying to nitpick or be an ass btw it’s all love bongsmilie

OP: if you have the air temp and leaf temp by different sensors there maybe that the difference is not actually that large, two sensors may measure slightly different. When working with vpd i always think that its more an indication on which direction moving your climate, the actual indicator if all is well is in your plant stance/growth. Also leaf temp/air temp difference tend to be larger the less light you have on the cannopy. You can try your leaf temp sensor on different leaves, comparing corners to centre under the light.
