the way of days,
changed and aged,
spoken teaching,
put to page,
books, computers, spoken words, from math to science, nouns and verbs,
children awakened, turn to teens, disrespect gets shown, intellectual dreams,
fading away,
erasing each page,
every step forward, seems to push some away,
public or private,
inner cities won't listen,
some lost in the system,
public school victims,
not to say there's no hope,
no reason to try,
but not a day goes by,
I don't question why,
why is it different,
money shouldn't matter,
yet remains to divide,
providing children with laughter, and after the fact,
some have lost their ways,
easy to blame,
yet hard to give it a name,
I've been in the city,
read second hand books,
listened to teachers talk about teaching soon-to-be crooks,
Seen the small classes, of kids with a chance,
so they say when explained,
they got paid in advance,
seperate but equal,
still remains, and the lies of old,
have returned again,
there isn't equality,
some struggle to eat,
and it seems, the hard pressed get the furthest seat,
back of the class,
and it's not for a color,
it's classism,
the reason,
I'm not as smart as my brothers-
