Default Anyone living in places subsidized by federal govt in WA (USDA, HUD) are at huge risk

Just learned yesterday that if your apt/housing is subsidized by the federal govt, you are fucked as a cannabis patient - NO grows & you'll even have to sneak vaping or eating your meds (they assume it's always smoked, which shows the degree of ignorant bullshit)

So please be aware (I sure wasn't)

My little garden I took such utter joy in (don't get out a lot, have a very bad lower back & can't always afford the gas prices these days) will have to go, I don't know if I have the guts to go ahead & try to fruit it & get something at least for all my efforts

But just be aware - they can throw you out, prevent you from getting any other subsidized housing & even threaten your $ benes, as well as medical ones (had no idear), legal patient state or not - more compassion from our esteemed federal govt

    I'm beyond heartsick/heartbroken

Annieji - Is this something you heard through the grapevine, or have you come across a news story on this? Sounds pretty important, I'd love to learn more.

No, I called up the USDA (who subsidizes the apt building I live in)

I pretended I had an older brother in eastern WA who was a patient & that he was considering moving closer to me & we saw the majority of subsidized housing where I am is subsidized by the USDA (although in reality, my brother is in eastern/central WA in HUD subsidized housing but the same story - a veteran's VASH guy threatened him when he said he was thinking of getting his recommendation & growing his own)

So anyways, I called 'em up in Olympia, WA at their headquarters & it was strange because the lady who answered said, "It's funny you should ask about this, we've just had occasion to consult our attornies (sp) & there is an absolutely no medical marijuana (didn't even get the "cannabis" part right but oh well) tolerated, much less grown"

She said she did not agree with it (just worked there) but that was the stance they've taken since the are subsidized by the federal govt - she said HUD just went through the same thing (same attorney's, too) - said my brother was not even allowed to POSSESS, much less CONSUME his medical cannabis in such housing - so of course I freaked out!

They could really make it rough if they wanted to - could charge you the full market price of the rent value AFTER they've booted you out & put you in debt forever (much less be able to get a new rental with that on your record, probably unless you know someone or have family, which I pretty much don't anymore)

So yes, gotta have a care if you find yourself in this situation - I've got catnip going for my cats & would like to get some chives & other stuff & maybe I could do a SAGE or two if I kept 'em small - when I didn't know how much trouble I could be in, they were here to fix my leaking tub (guy downstairs had a mess) & almost opened my bedroom door to let my cat in there til I said "oh no he'll tear the hell outta my good clothes!" & still didn't freak out because I honestly didn't know how much trouble I could've been in (!)

I'm just trying to make sure others are aware so they don't suffer at the hands of our govt - they're always saying how they don't want to hurt individual disabled people, well that's the biggest buncha crap, I'm living proof of this (!)

On the other hand, I like being older & not automatically having someone go "stoner!" lol

I have to admit though, it's like someone ripped a huge chunk of my heart out, the tending & growing of them was every bit as therapeutic as anything you could think of, my small garden was my utter joy & delight & I am heartbroke & honestly can't wait to find a place I can afford & have my little garden (like a mobile in a lot where I can afford the rent, have my son working on that one lol)

Hope everyone is having a low pain evening!

Thanks guys for your input, I greatly appreciate it & also figure there are others in the same boat - I finally found out exactly what the city policy was where I live, so thought I was easily safe, but my brother kept trying to tell me in so many words & finally I saw what he was saying & just decided to call them in Olympia & find out the "real" deal & that's what I found out

I just cannot believe they can be so cruel but obviously they have & continue to be, in spite of the AMA's declaration which was almost 3 years ago, now - SHAME ON THEM! I WISH THEY'D HAVE TO LIVE IN MY BOOTS FOR 3 MONTHS, THEY'D CRY LIKE LITTLE GIRLS I BET!!!

grrrr I hate the stupidity & ignorance involved & mostly, just the strong-arm & fear tactics - but they have the power to really mess you up, that's for sure, so for the love of God, everyone in this situation, PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL!!!

It would really kill me to see an especially undeserving patient get screwed by them (!!!)
They give a whole new meaning to the phrase, "asshole(s)" !

This is 100% true -- don't blame the housing people. The money from the feds comes with strings attached. If they don't comply with fed rules, they lose their fed $$.

Until people start voting for freedom again and we aren't forced to vote for Bozo A who doesn't believe in freedom and bozo B who doesn't believe in freedom, we're screwed. Most people don't give a shit about someone else's freedom if it doesn't affect them, and I include potheads in that, because most of us are just as willing to take someone's non-mj-related freedom when it's not something that's important to us or we don't like (I'm talking to you, liberals -- economic freedom is just as real and important as social freedom). I hope WA doesn't hate libertarians -- but we're used to being hated/ridiculed by either side of the political spectrum so if not oh well

Thanks so much, CharlieBud, it really is & I feel like an idiot for not realizing beforehand
It's hard enough to be a chronic pain patient & have a messed up lower back without this - most of us in this boat are also pretty darn low income - at least 2/3s of mine is actual ssdi (thanks to the apple/pear industry, mostly) but I have to admit I wish that one third supplemental was also regular disability (retired young at 40 - couldn't hardly sit up, much less walk by that point - it was utter hell)

It's very difficult to find a decent place to live on $700 a month (total income), I keep praying for an old fart room mate patient like myself who'll let me do my growing - yet that too could be a bad situation (if they smoked it up faster than I could grow it lol)
I just don't have that many options, sadly

I have a son who has a friend who finds crappy mobile homes in parks & fixes them up & sells them cheap - I'm hoping he can find me one with lot rent I can afford in the next couple/few years, at the most within driving distance of my doc - if it goes much longer than that, I dunno - I want to say I'd throw everything in storage but hell, I have even more arthritis in my back, now (just had my biannual bone scan) & a couple cats, one that's an elder feral Burmese (inherited from my paternal aunt in central wa some years ago right after she died - people kept taking her & bringing her back & the last time, I just lost it & took her, the place was empty with no one there - sure didn't plan to, at the time I had a cat who was diabetic & his insulin/syringes/prescription food helped keep me broke - I've never regretted what I did, though, I watched that little cat grieve all winter, even forgot she was feral til my aunt's brother mentioned it & jogged my memory - you didn't see Baki often while visiting my aunt but my aunt absolutely cherished her)

Other than that, I don't know what the hell I can do

The place I lived before I could grow but it wasn't that great a place to live because there was no hot water or shower (had to go to the "bigger" house to use - it was a separate building meant to be an office)
The landlord was a good guy but an untreated bipolar & he brought in a heroin junkie as a room mate (when I bailed & moved into the office instead of a room in the main house - always grew in the little place, anyways - he helped her get her tickets cleaned up, as well as herself but just this last Dec, she got her 2nd felony for possession of oxycontin & didn't get ANY probation, supervised or otherwise - and the bitch was off & running again - she'd been dipping her toes back in for awhile, a bent spoon here & there, so glad I'm not there anymore - she never wanted to get her shit together, really, I thought it was obvious but I guess not)

This was the only place I could find that I could afford on my own ($700 a month total income)

So now I tinker quietly with low odor strains (I have a Mad Shack & am trying to start some Jackberry from Sannie's, germed 3 of 5 seeds I have left - the Mad Shack was a 2 fem seed freebee for buying 5 fem Mad Scientist seeds (which I germed & grew & right after finding out this info, freaked totally out & had someone come get them to fruit them all - I had a hella sea of green going, put everything I could scrape together to get my grow going again once I found out I was good as far as county & city (city took awhile)

Stupid me thought I was good for the go! I used to grow wicked bad Hog but of course here is not a place I would grow such a strain, even if I COULD legally grow it
My original teacher had it & some killer charcoal filters & you could still smell it - he since has went to Strawberry Kush lol

So I tinker a bit but of course nothing like before when I grew for myself

    what a crock (shakes head)

    life's a bitch, nothing new

Actually, according to the info from the woman I talked to in Olympia (USDA), you are not legally allowed to POSSESS, much less CONSUME, medical cannabis - much less try to grow anything

    isn't this just outrageous?!
yeah so much for compassion laws eh
