Howdy....my wife and I live near new york city and have both been through a divorce, she works in the city with a great job, and I am lucky to be self employed. I can earn in a day what most earn in a week. She earns 90k by herself. The problem is we are tired of the rat race. With all we make we have under10k saved. Partially because of kids, and partly because of where we live too. Its very expensive where we live, in the outskirts. We pay for the kids phones, insurance and other stuff too.


We decided it's time to downsize, found a beautiful home to buy in kansas, and our bank wont talk to us becasue it's under 100k, the credit union out there wont talk to us because were not a customer, the local banks in kansas are sending us apps, but they were complaining that once we move, they wont know how much we will be earning.


It's a no win situation, and may force us into working two more years. This way we can pay cash and tell the banks to get lost, but I dont know how other people do it, it kinda sucks. I really fell in love with the house too.

Just wanted to vent, sorry.

have you looked into California? we gotta a lot of buds here, good jobs, beautiful scenery, pretty much a little slice of everything. pricing varies according to location here. you can spend 50k or 5mil, it's up to you.

And you got Arnold! Too funny. Havent really considered cali, to be honest. Kansas kinda appealed to us, cause of the slow life style, no gangs, we just wanna lay low, do some gardening and have some fun together. We are however starting to make the kids stand on there own two feet, they are old enough. Indiana seems nice too.

we have mountain lions, sea lions and elephant seals. snow and beaches, deserts and valleys with grapes as far as the eye can see.

I miss Cali soooo bad! It really is a nice place to live Vidman. Just stay North cuz Southern Cali sucks for a peacefull place to live.

Edit: Kansas isn't that far from where I live now... If its anything like here, then its fairly peacefull. Let us know what happens, mabie we can come visit some day... Wife and kids that is... Peace

i build wineries so i travel a lot. stay north of santa cruz and out of lake county and you are safe. the bay area is a turd of human rat race. fun to play in but you should go home and take a long, hot shower after you leave. other than that it's free roaming.

Quite honestly, yes, Indiana and kansas do appeal to me. I dont care about hillbillys, I just want a nice, quiet, safe place to live. I keep to myself, I dont need friends at this point in my life. I just wanna do my thing without being disturbed.
