so my rubbermaid grow box is loud and lets out a lot of light. im in college, and will have college room mates in our new house. i do have my own room, but there may be one or two times where someone will wander into my room i figure...

if they happen to find it, they might be ok with it. but instead of me reassuring them that they can deny that they knew if the police should show up yada yada yada, i figure i would try and do a convincing lie hahah this way they are less likely to discuss me growing weed, which will no doubt spread to other people no matter how hard i try and keep it quiet.

anyway, i havent really thought much about it, but it goes something like this

if someone asks "what is this?" (my grow box) ill say something like
"oh thats for a genetics class i am trying to get into. it has some pre-requisites, but i spoke with the professor and if i do an independent project, i can bypass them and go right into the class for the winter semester. so i am growing a male and female (insert scientific name of a plant) and then cross breeding them to see what characteristics are mendelian and which are not"

i figure if i do it with enough confidence, maybe label the grow box "experiment 2A" and sprinkle in some fancy jargon they would buy it if they happen to see it. it will be more convincing during the vegetative state and if i can get a name of a plant that actually looks like marijuana, i think it may work

i figure i would also buy the house a six pack or two a month incase they get upset that im using extra energy.


if you were the one to walk in, would you buy this story if i was confident about it enough? if they say "it looks like pot" i can let out a legitmate laugh and say "hahah yeah i wish." so would you buy it? try not to play devil's advocate too hard, and perhaps help me improve my story

also iof you are growing in a rubbermaid im guessing you dont have a 400w or better your probably using cfls so no one will even notice the power ussage

Why not tell them that story now, before they find it. That way you can offer to pay for the extra electric now and there wouldn't be any hard feelings. I also think if you told them that now it would make them less suspicious of what you having going on in your closet...
Don't call it a lie either, in a way it isn't. You are protecting them is all

i think you would be surprised. the word "mendelian" can be pretty powerful

im mostly just thinking of this to protect myself and them (yeah, mostly myself). i've spent too much money to throw everything out and start over. its also my room, im paying rent, i think i should be able to do what i want to an extent. now i know this doesnt give me a right to start my own meth lab, but it seems like it would be mostly harmless. the risk is mine and they can just be ignorant to the situation.
