I've just received some very sad news from another family member. Three friends of my son's have just died in Alaska over the July 4th weekend. Here's the story.

Thats a shame, alcohol + no seatbelts... that's what happens. I can't wait to get up to AK myself, 3 more weeks and I should have my car sold and be on a plane headed up.

Aye, my uncle is a drilling ops. supervisor for a major oil company up there. He got assigned to Russia last year but Russia was too much and they left after a few months. I had a dream the other night, my first about AK itself. I had this badass Perception Kayak that I had been looking at on Craigslist the night before, I jumped in it, pushed myself into the water and headed upriver to this glacier... at the foot of the glacier was all the broken off ice and such, really pretty even in my dream, and I had a huge spliff in my mouth just a smoking and gliding silently through the mini-bergs... with hills and mountains towering over me and a fresh smell to the air, I'm a nature nut and I know you'll understand! Anyways, I sent my uncle $400 the next day in and got him to buy the Kayak so it didn't sell before I moved up. It's a beautiful 15' one seat with spray guard and a Werner paddle.

Man ive been wanting to kayak through bergs ever since i saw it on tv when i was like 10. Do you white water kayak at all too? Thats insanely fun.

and thats such a shame to die like that. My condolences to all family and friends.

Never white-water kayaked but I'd love too, I'd definitely wanna get my skill up though.
