| | Found out lil' bro smokes | | My little bro is 13 now. Just found out he smokes. I told him that he's to young, He called me a hypocrite and just blazed out of my apt. Me and my bro always been really close, I know hes young But i started when i was his age. So i need advice in tackling this situation. As a responsible cannabis user I don't condone this shit, But Wont i be a hypocrite telling him other wise?
When i was his age and smoked i used to spend every single dollar to weed. It was horrible, i wasn't mature enough to have self control. This concerns me because i don't want him to make the same mistakes i did. So any advice?

| | just do proper parenting tactics.. explain to him the benefits and the negatives of smoking the 'bis.. explain to him that it can impair and stunt mental growth in his young body, as well as effect his developing lungs, etc.. don't bullshit him, just give him the facts and give him an ultimatum; in totality it is going to be his choice, the only thing you can do is try to guide him. |

| | May as well get stoned with him. Tons of 20 somethings still won't listen, so why would a 13 year old listen, especially to a hypocrite? You can't tell a 21st century teenager shit.
Would you have listened? Didn't kill you, ain't gonna kill him. People make mistakes.

| | Yeah guess when it comes down to it, Cant really stop kids from making bad choices. Your right when it all comes down to it it is his choice.....It still just doesnt seem right that an immature boy should attempt to make a mature and life altering choice. Thanks bro i'll do my best. Hopefully i can stop this kid turning out like me.

| | just keep a good relationship with him like you have already but just keep up with the parental advice. try and keep him out of trouble and shit like that. tell him how you fucked up - if he doesnt stop smoking- at least he will be better at it. i learned everything from my fuck-up of an older brother. no offense to you or any other older brother tho. |

That's why we drink, smoke, fuck, and do drugs. That's how shit goes in society--especially one that is as religiously tolerant and open-minded as America. When you have a mindset of "agnosticism" and freechoice taught in any one place (like communism), certain things entail.
I'm not turning this into a religious debate--it's just something I've noticed. Good example is the hippy era and sexual revolution.. it's when we started to break out of our religious phase that America got even more sexual and drug induced..
It's just the natural cycle of things. The most you can do is give him that talk, and if anything just make sure he smokes responsibly, and that he's not out with dumbass friends doing stupid shit when he's high |

| | Yeah you said it yourself. Tell him str8 about the money issue and everything, all the pluses and minuses "you" went thru that way he can relate since you two are close.I'm sure he will still smoke but he may actually look up to ya bit for doing that way and maybe even think a little about what it costs and such. My bro and I are close too. he was about the same age when I found out he smoked. I busted him with a joint or two, but when I looked at it I realized he'd been gettin ripped off so I asked where he got it and straightened that out. He didn't know I was selling at the time, so from that point on I had controll of his smoke. worked out nice at that time for the both of us. Now I'm 30 and he is 27 we live together and he is a bigger chronic than I am. Go figure. |

| | If you have any luck, let us know. Maybe I can dissuade my 24 year old daughter from comin' round bummin' my hard earned grow goodies. Gave her same lights I use, for Xmas, keep tryin' to give her excellent clones . . . but she just wants the finished product. Never could tell her diddley squat. I was hoping she'd take over for me now that I'm almost 60, but noooooooooooooo . . . lazy generation.
