Its got more use than just a "high." Ask my close friend who had cancer and used marijuana as an aid to stimulate her appetite.

Hemp and marijuana are in the same family of plants but are not the same. The thc contemt of hemp is less than 1%.

Hemp and cannabis are the same... If you started growing cannabis merely for it's stalks it would grow thicker, longer stems and less bud.

I imagine the same could be said for hemp. If you selected the best plants and bred them for their bud content, over time you should breed a fairly decent plant. There is also a school of thought that says there is only one strain of cannabis, and that the differences are down to climate. Meaning that the sativas and indicas all started out as one plant.
