Yeah (not that I have personal experience, although I have studied animal behaviour quite a lot) mountain lions will attack small children and the very old... women too (particularly at that time of the month). Animals are far more intelligent than the average human gives them credit for. They live by instinct (something we have learned to ignore) and they know (just as we do, but often instantly dismiss) when someone is scared or weak enough for them not to put up too much of a fight.

fdd2blk, I hope you didnt take any offense to my 1st post, I was just playing around, had my morning buzz goingn. lol
You know, I did use to live in northern new jersey, and we had a huge black bear problem thye would come right up onto the deck. I hated that, and they always knocked over the garbage.

some dude by my house got pulled off his bike by a mountain lion..(couple years ago) his wife beat the mountain lion for about 2 minutes before it stopped gnawing on her husbands face(the guy survived)... the moountain lion dragged the poor chap 20 feet down a mountain side.... of course, the boys in blue came up the hill and blasted the CAT...

What is it with mountain lions and people's faces? I've read of a couple of reports of mountain lions going for this part of the body.

Maybe they've realised that we need to call for help. Clever bastards.
