Oakland deputies use heat-seeking chopper equipment to bust pot operation Mike Martindale / The Detroit News ORION TOWNSHIP -- What police described as a father and son marijuana grow operation was busted Friday with the help of a 2 ½ month investigation and a helicopter equipped with an infrared camera.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard announced the arrests following a search of a house at 4360 Rose Court in the township, where deputies said they found 204 marijuana plants, scales, 100 methadone tablets, grow lights, pots, packaging material and other equipment to support a sophisticated marijuana grow operation.
The bust was made possible with the use of a FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared) Camera on the county's helicopter that detected an "unusually large amount of heat" coming from the basement, Bouchard said.

Both were arraigned Thursday and are held in the Oakland County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond each and a May 22 preliminary exam.
