... so, i had some computer problems a few months or so ago, and thanks for the kindness of some members here, i was able to somewhat salvage my laptop and get it sort of back up and running..
thanks again curious2garden, your rock out girl.. :D:D:D

anyhoo's, computer's still acting up a bit, and now w/e i try and use chrome, which i've always loved and never had an issue with, my laptop crashes, so i've been avoiding it like the flu and been using firefox, which i've never really liked much, and lately just updated to a newer version of it and am really hating life atm..
so i turn to you, the peoples of riu to ask what browsers aside from chrome that you use and like..
never been much of a fan of i.e. but if enough people like it, i'll give it another shoot i guess.. also just googled and found one called opera which got good reviews and wonder if anyone uses that one and if so do they like it or not really?

thanks again ahead of time for any and all useful info, and thanks again to curious2garden for being such a good egg.. :D:D

I used to like internet explorer but then it started acting up and not displaying websites correctly so I switched over to Fire Fox and haven't had a problem since.

ok sunni, quick question for you as you're pretty techy and i'm, well, not, lol..

like i said, just dloaded the new ff version and now i don't see the address for any website i'm on, like no www.rollitup.orgblahblahblah stuff anywhere that i can see..
i also don't see any back arrow.. like when i was typing out this thread, i lost my wifi and couldn't simply go back to the last page i was on.. i had to go to my history and find the page i was on, which is a bit of pita imo.. not sure if i'm missing something or if that's the way the new ff is now..
thanks again for the help peoples.. much appreciated..

I've always used Firefox. Never really had a problem with it. Opera was an ok lightweight browser that I used for awhile on my Eepc. I think it's now added some extension capability so it might not be as lightweight as when I was using it. It never crashed or anything from what I can remember. I also use Linux so my input may be void.

Sounds like you need to enable the "navigation" toolbar. Click the arrow in the top left then go view>toolbars>navigation toolbar , then click it. It can also be found under "preferences".

Chrome. And, you can easily fix the crash problem as follows:

1. back up your chrome favorites folder.
2. Delete chrome, then go delete the chrome folders (from program files, user/ appdata/ temp/)
3. Download a fresh copy of chrome from google.
4. After rebooting your computer, install chrome from the new download.
5. Enjoy chrome

If chrome ever stopped working on my computer, I'd grab my razr m and fire up chrome!)

I go with Apple all the way, life is way to short to be screwing around with windows, when you need to get work done..

Theres a reason why the Wikileaks folks use Apple and not microsoft computers..

Wikileaks does not use Apple.... all respectable people run Linux servers....

http://blogs.computerworld.com/19363/wikileaks_assange_warns_of_apple_itunes_spy_portal
They used apple for there own personal data, what the movie that just came out, has live footage of them using apple laptops..

I'm sure they used the Linux servers for there website and so on, but the footage shows many times they was using apple computers..

Sorry, I didn't mean to jack the thread..

It really all depends on what I'm doing on the internet, if I'm surfing the silk road then I'll use tor and such, if it's my everyday I use Firefox or Opera, and then when I'm bored I use chrome lol.

Ya I'm a geek, not many people would know looking at me but ya :D

You guys just need to be one of those jack of all trades like me lol.

I'm so glad I paid attention to my grandpa and dad growing up.

Nothing like knowing technology, cars(new&old),plants and gardening, concrete, woodwork, the list goes on and on.

I never thought I'd ever use half the shit I knew but what do you know when I became an adult and lived in the real world it all came back to me lol.

Oh and I almost forgot the best part, I'm a big time cannabis advocate :D

Yeah, yeah you're pretty fucking awesome giggles! :D

I do know how to do alot of shit but for some reason I never wanted to work on cars. I think deep down I have a fear that if I did something wrong it's not just my life that could be in jeopardy. So I just never did.
