We are getting ready to move across the country and are debating on whether to fly or drive. The catch being our dog. If there was no dog we would simply fly, but I'm not to sure about bringing my dog on the plane. She is a tad high strung and we cant get a dirct flight. I talked to the vet about getting a sedative, but I dont really know if it would do anything for her unless it knocked her right out.

I was just curious if anyone has any experience flying with their pets.

She is 50+ pounds and is to big for one of those carry-on bags, and will more than likely have to switch planes. From everything that I know at this point I won't be able to see her between flights to dope her up again. So, for the first half of the trip shes likely to be out like a light but not for the second.

I'm really not looking forward to driving across the country 3400+ miles in the middle of July....with the dog, wife, and a 4 year old...

the flight wont kill the dog and is better for you, wife and your child!
maybe the dog will be pissed off for a few days but it will live. even the dog sat in a car for 34oo is gona be a killer for her/him.
my sister had a cat (i fkin hate cats) and waz movin to devon about a 6 hour drive from were she lived.
i helped her move i had the fragile stuff in my car, tv, pots and plates , cups ,glasses etc etc and the fckin cat.
the vets gave her a syringe with some sort of sedative for the cat
i had to give it to the cat if it stressed out,
how the fck do u know if a cat is stresed out?
anyhow the cat died, apparantely i gave it to much,
moral of the story is if your a cat dont be sick on another mans car seats.
they never told me not to give it all to the cat.

If it was an option, I would entertain the idea, believe me.......

My wife is really pushing for the road trip, I'd rather fly and just get there. But there are several stops we could make on the way to see various family members, but it just turns a 3-4 day trip by car to at least 7-8 days.

The upside to a road trip is the fact that I could bring some clones with me so when we get there I could start another grow up right away. I'm pretty sure we will have one more good harvest before we go, but dont think it'll be enough to hold us over until the next harvest. Then were stuck trying to score weed again, and having to pay for it.

I really think I might just put the wife and child on a plane and do the road trip myself with the dog, I might really enjoy it.

For me, I would fly your wife and child and drive myself. It would be a nice little vacation for you and your buddy. Just make sure you have your road trip stash for all those pee stops , lol.

This will be the 3rd time that I have done this trip and I told my wife that I really was not gonna do this trip again by myself, chillin with the hound is cool for about the first 500 miles or so, but after that its pretty much snooze city for her.

But I would make MUCH better time if it was just me and the dog. Last time I made this run I drove from south Florida to St. Louis before I decided to stop and get a hotel room. Then did from St. Louis to Rock Springs, Wyoming for the second leg of the trip, and then on to Oregon. There is no way in hell that I would make that kind of time again if I had the wife and child. I pretty much fill up the tank and dont have to stop until I need gas again.

I guess it really boils down to whether or not I want to keep the vehicle that I would be driving. We are shipping all of our stuff as well as 1 car, and if we fly we would sell the other car before we go.

On one hand we have peace and quiet for about 3 very long days and on the other hand we have 3400+ miles at $3 and whatever for a gallon of gas....Beam me there will ya Scotty
