better taste: soil or hydro

all other things being equal, which do you prefer?

i ask because i had a neighbor drop by with some dispensary weed today for us to try, she said it was very potent, great taste, decent smell. my wife tried it and couldn't finish the bowl.

anytime i try dispensary weed, i can tell immediately if it was grown in soil or hydro (mostly, it's all done in hydro). maybe i'm just getting snobbish after three years of only ever growing organically in soil. i don't know, so i thought i'd see what everyone else has to say.

I would say it depends on the strain more than anything. But I'm going to have to go with soil.

i have no sense of smell, so i tend to only pick up the smoothness of the product. but for anyone else imagining this scenario, just imagine it's the same strain grown in the two different mediums.

Weed grown in soil tends to have more terpines an essential oils. Not to mention weed grown in hydro will most likely have chemical fertilizers in it. Most of the weed entered in the cannabis cup is grown in soil.

I think all the hydro lovers are going to be trying to tell how superior their weed is. Personally I have to vote soil. You can flush hrdro all you want its still filled with nutes.

i actually just had some of the hydro stuff my wife didn't like, and it was pretty good. still tasted the hydro in it, but it was very smooth.

probably one of the best hydro growns i've ever had taste-wise.

i have seen how vigorous the growth is in hydro, and it is quite awesome. but i feel like mother nature taxes that with a taste tradeoff, no matter how well grown.
