idk, of course rape is awful, but the parterno never raped a soul.. he gave his life to penn state, and they pretty much killed the man imo by all the bs that he had to go through..
i'm sure no one else in that entire school knew about the rapist and kept their mouths shut?? come on, why put it all on perterno is all i'm saying..
    idk..
Its about the mindset the joe pa encouraged, that football is more important than the safety of children. Under his watch this all happened. If in 1998 joe pa came out and fired Sandusky, and said that penn state will not put up with this blah blah blah, we can have th conversation that maybe his statue should stay and the wins too. Instead he swept it under the carpet because he didn't want to tarnish the "image" of penn state. That's the crime joe pa committed. Penn state got what it deserves. He had ultimate power after being there for 60 years. If he had fired Sandusky when the allegations first came to light, Sandusky would have gone to jail years ago. Many innocent children should have been sparred. This is why joe pa is a bad person IMO.

there was another thread about a dude getting killed for snitching on someone, and i said how fucked up it was for him to get killed for speaking out and doing the decent and right thing, and i had many people reply and say snitches get stitches, blah blah blah... why is it that snitches get sttches in some situations, but in this case it's not the way it is...
idk, this world confuses me is all.. i still don't think it's all paterno's fault and people above him knew just as much as he did, and yet they're not getting their shit removed from the school...

idk, i just think it's a shit situation, not only for the children involved obviously, but i just feel he's being used as a scapegoat by the school, and it's not right.. i obviously am not the only one who feels this way as i saw ton's of people on the news over at the campus taking pix of his statues before they got removed..
Everyone above joe pa did know, and has already been fired. Please know more about the situation before you split off about it. They were all fired BEFORE Paterno. All the way up to the president of the school. All fired man. It's not like joe pa was the only one dude.

The rapidly evolving scandal at Penn State has already claimed the jobs of three prominent members of the university community. Here's a timeline of the events.

Nov. 4: Former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky is indicted on dozens of counts of child sexual abuse. A grand jury statement reveals the gristly details of mutliple accounts of alleged sexual acts on children he met through the foundation he ran off the State College, Pa. campus.
Nov. 5: Sandusky turns himself into authorities. He is arraigned and released on $100,000 bail. At the same time, authorities announce felony perjury charges against Tim Curley, Penn State's athletic director, and Gary Schultz, the school's vice president for finance and business. They're both charged with perjury and failure to report a sexual assault.
Nov. 6: Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno, who is named in the grand jury statement as being informed by a graduate assistant, Mike McQueary, of the abuse, says he told the grand jury that he reported the assault to Curley in line with university and legal requirements. Curley and Schultz step down from their positions.
Nov. 7: Curley and Schultz are arraigned and released on $75,000 bail each.
Nov. 8: Despite saying he was ready to address the ongoing scandal, the university cancels Paterno's weekly press availability. Later at night, Paterno addresses a large crowd that had gathered at his home.
Nov. 9: Early in the day, Paterno announces that he'll retire at the end of the 2011 season, saying "I wish I would have done more." However, later that night, the school decided to immediately fire Paterno and university president Graham Spanier.
Four people took the fall, not just Paterno.

Does this somehow lessen his guilt or responsibility?

Hahahaha, I'm not trying to give ya a hard time, dude, but the phrase is "scapegoat."

But Paterno isn't the only one taking flak for this. Many of you are misinformed. Read Peyote's post a few above mine.

Yes thank you. So please read my post of you think joe pa is the only scapegoat. If he wasn't dead he'd be looking at jail time with the other three scumbags that helped cover up this disgusting atrocity.

i take no offense or dont see it as you givin me shit, but honestly who cares how i said it you got what i was tryin to say.

i wasnt misinformed just uninformed as i asked for links to show other ppl at penn state that knew got fired besides paterno.

i also get that he has guilt in the situation but to me is no where near as much to blame as the dude actually ass rammin the children. just like an accom
plice to murder in my eyes shouldnt be given the same punishment at the one who actually killed. they should have to pay for what they did wrong, but i mean they didnt kill/rape anyone.

i dont wanna hear if it was my family member either cause if it was my family member an i knew or could tell somethin was off about them an drilled them (no
pun intended) i wouldnt have told a damn person either they woulda just found sandusky dead in a ditch somewhere...lemme take that back they wouldnt have found shit cause he woulda been left out on a bank of a swamp for the gators to dine on.

I agree with the fine but did they have to punish the football team and students?
