nurserys often have old pots they throw out....
i was driving bya nursey yesterday and noticed all these black plastic pots. the simple ones that plants come in that are at nurserys. i am wondering if any of you guys uses these pots.
i am interested in getting some they seem good to use and im hoping they would be free
Yes of course!! I start my seedling's in "Mahoney's greenhouse plastic pot's....work awesome.....ALLWAY'S BOIL WATER AND BATH "NEW FOUND POT'S" TO KILL ANY FUNGUS OR ROOT PATHOGEN'S....Then use them till they crack..about 5 year's...make sure they have screen over the hole's and plant!! jack
Those are all I use. I do landscaping for a living so I keep all the pots when we plant new stuff. I've got a huge shelf in the garage full of em.
Most all hydro stores have those containers in different sizes. if hot sun is an issue, painting them flat white will take care of that.
don't forget to bleach used nursery pots you get. most nurseries have good cultural practices but with as many plants that they deal with problems do arise. i put about 6" of water in the sink, add a few ounces of bleach and roll the pots around it and let dry. sterilized ! GL
If you want a ton of those pots just check the dumpsters at walmart after they down grade their garden center, hell you can even salvage some plants their too. Some of my bushes and trees in my yard came from a walmart dumpster.
yeah i saw some there when picked up some soil but they seem alot better quality and they arnt free haha i hate spending money.
^^thats pretty crazy about walmart never thought of that or even lowes or home depot great place to find that stuff. they took down the jiffy stand and i love the seed starting soil i should of check the dumpsters.
