How could you even relax enough to consider the UAE a vacation spot?
I read an article about a guy who went on vacation there and got arrested and held up for 2 weeks because he fell asleep on public transport (a long train ride to be exact).
Their laws are just too strict, and they dont really seem to have any sympathy for people who many not share their cultural views.
Why should they have sympathy for people that don't respect their customs and laws while in their country..?

Actually Shannon makes a good point. Medieval is irrelevant. The duty devolves onto the guest to observe the customs of the host land. That is a principle universal to societies across time and geography. cn

It's not as if I'm making a point to go to another country and defy their laws no matter how ridiculous. My intention of bringing that story is just to show an example of how our laws and safety procedures are attempted to be cast aside for the sanctity of their personal, cultural, and religious values.
I forgot all of you like to dick ride so I suppose I shouldn't have said anything.
