We have had alien technology for hundreds of years but they had to make it seem like it was us creating it so they made really shitty versions of the real ones and then slowly improved the models available to make it seem like progress but they have had tech that blows anything currently available away for years, they have phones that can read your mind, they are just not being released yet.
