Default electrician help please what flips the breaker

so i get home last night to find my light out. and they have been for a couple days now... i called the elecricity company and stuff to find out why it flipped and they said it is manual but the apts say they didnt do anything. so electricians out there help please.

what causes a breaker box outside of apts to turn off?

we had less electricity running than when we are normally here. the only thing running was a 6" duct fan 125w cfl and a pc fan. along with ac.
there couldnt of been enough to cause a surge right?

do you have an exterior plug that could have been used while you were gone to overload breaker? is the breaker soft or spongy when you flip it on and off or does it click like its supposed to it could be a old breaker .otherwise i would check for shorts on the line that the breaker in question is on.

it could be that you are drawing more on a line that could possibly not be designed for the amount of draw you are using. It could be a faulty circuit.Typicaly when a breaker tri the causes its a overload in the capacity of the amount of amps the line carries for an extended period which causes the wire to get hot it shuts the circuit before a fire becomes immanent, a short in the circuit typicaly caused by fraying of the line but in other cases bad wiring, then there is ground fault, meaning its not properly grounded and the discharge isnt proceeding correctly causing a short. but it could be that the wire is bad and needs to be replaced, though it is less likely i would still check your line if possible make sure it isnt frayed at any point.Make absolutely sure you arent over using the same circuit you operate your equipment on.

do other people in your apt. have access to the panel someone else could have flipped the breaker on accident , breakers do not typically trip on accident unless the breaker is really old and soft and even then they are just more sensitive especially on hot days.

i dont believe we have an exterior we are on the second floor and the only one would be on the porch. i dont believe i can check the circuit since i dont own the building and i dont know how to do so ether. so most likely it is an internal problem with the wiring? it would be the apts fault?
the apt leasing manager is insisting that it is a "freak of god" whatever that even means.

thanks for the info guys! it will help me figure out what it wrong. i dont want this to happen again.

the problem was outside? breaker or manual switch?

is it a breaker on the outside? if so what size? amp rating

is it a breaker that is your main to your panel? or just a single breaker for the circuit to your grow?

if it was a breaker, was it turned off or was it in the middle and you had to turn it all the way to off to be able to turn it on?

is it just a manual switch on the outside that turns off all power to the apt.? if so someone turned it off.

i was thinking that since the breaker box isnt locked up. i havent had a chance to see if it is soft or squishy i will do that right now.
im in tx so its pretty hot but this has never happened to me before and we have been living at this location for over a year now.

elec. tester.jpgthis can help when looking for grounding issues and hot/nuetral reverse problems alot faster than opening all of the circuits on that line good luck.

it was outside we have a single breaker for the apt outside and then we have the smaller breakers inside. the one outside says that it is up to 100 volts i took a pic of the breaker box outside.

the maintience man who helped us said that he restarted the breaker. he had to turn it off to turn it back on.

i just got a maintience guy in the apt to check it out and he said that it was the a/c that tripped it. which is weird since we never touch the thermostat
