Amsterdam Cannabis Cup 2012

Hey you guys going from the US to the cup i was just wondering were you guys booked your trip ive been emailing a guy from amsterdam trips about it i plan on going i was gonna book the ticket this week? I think its 2100 per person which includes airfare, hotel, tour of the redlight district, VIP passes to the cup, judges passes, tickets to all the shows and concerts with the cup, tour of the canals, and a meet and greet at the airport in holland. Am i getting ripped off should i look for a different trip provider. Anyone thats booked the trip through a travel company your comments and expierence with whichever company would be great. I got fucked on a trip to mexico through a travel company before things were promised that werent delivered like beach front hotel and inclusive was more like a ghetto hotel in the slums of puerte vallarata (sp?) Got some great blow down there but still didnt feel safe in the neighborhood.

Hmm... it's on my birthday... but ticket prices look crazy. I might just go for Amsterdam and hang around the museum and coffeeshops as normal.

If anyone would like to come with me and go camping, I have a very large tent.

Aw hang on, I can spare for the day pass, it cost the same as my bus ticket... and 30 minute's travel from Vliegenbos campsite.

guys it would most prob be cheaper to book it all separate yourselves you can also buy day passes on the day. Try easytobook.com for your hotels. Day Passes last time I looked were 50euro

There are a lot of coffeeshops, and most of them suck (yes, I'm picky about weed), however, there is world class weed to be found if you go to the right ones. For a heavy, tasty indica go to Green Place. The budtender knows his buds, so don't be shy to ask him what he recommends. I bought a gram of White OG yesterday, and I'm very impressed with it. Classic OG taste, and a very intense indica stone. Great for pain relief and insomnia, and appetite stimulation too, I suspect. Coffeeshop Amnesia is also one of my few favorites. Again, great weed (especially sativas) and great food. They got nachos with various toppings, mini pancakes, ice cream, pitas, and i forget what else...also some overpriced smoothies...Good place to hang out, eat and get baked...I didn't like the music though, and it was kinda loud...This one is reasonably close to the train station, so that's where I go to get baked right before getting on the train for the way back.
Besides coffeeshops, there's other stuff to do in amsterdam. There's a botanical garden with some of the world's oldest greenhouses, for example...lots of museums too (van gogh, cannabis museum, sex museum, etc...) Also lots of fun headshops and smartshops. If you want those, go to Warmoesstraat. Conscious Dreams always has interesting stuff. Also check out Nieuwendijk...one end of the street has some fun shops like Full Moon.

Always pay attention to your stuff, or you might get robbed...also don't even talk to street dealers, it probably won't end well...Amsterdam is fun, but also very crowded and dangerous, so be careful.

As for the cup itself, I must say that after going there twice, I'm a little disillusioned...it's all too commercial for my taste...last year I didnt even go because they raised the entrance fee for the expo from 30 euro per person to 50...There is some fun stuff to see at the expo, but you can see it all in less than a day. They do give out plenty of free samples though...

Thanks for the helpful input. But like I mentioned we probably need to collate these 'I am going to Amsterdam' threads as there are hundreds of them and people keep giving great advice/information and it gets lost in a sea of threads. Maybe Amsterdam needs it's own subforum lol, with travel info, events and such. Or just call it the general Pot Tourist Board for Holland, Portugal, Cali, South Asia.. all those places people frequent for ganja and partying.

Yup, I am most likely going. One day, and then maybe spend a couple dipping in and out of Centraal as it's so ridiculously cheap to camp and use the 7 day travel pass.

hey op, check out a website called the smokers guide to amsterdam... it's super informative, and gives a run down of the killer strains and hash you can get over there, a smoke report on each, and where they were purchased from..

there are ton's of crummy coffee shops in the dam, that's for sure, but there are also a number of very good ones as well.. the rockerj, grey area, abraxis was cool.. blue bird and a few others.. stay away from the bulldogs, they're everywhere, and have lesser quality buds and it is more of a tourist trap then anything ime...http://smokersguide.com/sg/index.html

amsterdam trips.com is where i was getting my package through anyone ever use this travel place it says there a US company thats been in the buisness since 1999 i was gonna get tickets the same deal as before i put up there, round trip airfare, judges passes, vip passes, tour redlight district, Vip to concerts and shows, canal tour, and hotel a few more things i dont remember shuttle service to and from the cup. Anyway back in february i emailed this guy and a trip for two with all that stuff was 2050 usdollars now its 2100 per person now that the dutch govt shutting it down to tourist its gonna be the last so i should have this booked in the next few days we rollitupers should have a little smoke out at the cup for those of us that go would be fun. I usually wouldnt meet up with anyone from the here in the USA but over in Europe i dont think my local law enforcement and DEA will be there.
