weather is starting to get nice around these parts, gotta get my licence soon. I usually stay close to home to fish, i think i took my boat out to Sebago lake once a few summers ago and almost took my whole prop and lower unit of my motor (was a inboard motor) on a shallow spot i went screaming across. coaught a few white perch that day but nothing great.
If you fish Sebago go to where Songo river empties into the lake By Quimby's. Right next to the state park. Fish in 5 to 10 feet of water either trolling a grey ghost on a fly rod or a sewed on smelt. This time last year we caught 12 toque and 2 salmon before noon. I hate those togue they eat all the food for other fish. Caught a 8lb one last year it fought for 2 minutes then reeled it in like an old boot. We kill those along with the pike some idiots put in there a few years back.

The hard water season was nonexistent in the lower peninsula this year
Some of my best memories happened while hotboxing my shanty! But I am looking forward to the walleye opener in a couple weeks. Hope it dont fucking dump rain like last year though, got a limit in a couple hours opening day then the river was shot for a couple weeks.

Hey fellow Mainer not sure where you are but, if your gonna go out Boothbay Harbor is your best bet to catch nice fish. Portland sucks the boat gets 1 or 2 cod and the rest is dogfish. Bar harbor is good also.

theres a charter boat out of Popham beach i was thinking of checking out. me the wife and kids make it out there a few times a year to do some offshore fishing, beer drinking and playing in the sand.

The steelhead fishing is on in full force though and I'm hoping to get away this weekend for at least a day trip. I would say I will post pictures but it is called fishing and not catching for a reason, so we will have to wait and see. We also do alot of walleye fishing here as they are plentiful and so tasty. Walleye season also opens up the 28th for inland waters and on opening weekend it's like bumper boats on every river. Hope to have some pics to post. Tight lines and screaming reels to ya!

That seems late in the season to start trout fishing. But,probably most years it's still like winter up there. Kind of like here. Most years there is no open water in the lakes and ponds opening day. What kind of trout are you guys catching? Steelhead must be a trip to catch. We now have rainbows same as a steelhead minus the ocean they get huge and grow very fast. I have only caught a few small ones but, they fight like hell! Good luck!

We're gonna hit it hard this weekend, so pics on Monday if Mother Nature would just friggin' work for us on a weekend. Too much rain and crazy wind. The bluegills will be spawing soon, and that's a limit fest every day.
I can't wait! Thanks for making a great thread, a lot of people from other counties don't get to enjoy the fishing like we do.
Bluegill huh? I have never eaten one but, if they are anything like white perch they must be awesome especially early in the year while the water's still cold. Good luck hope the weather holds out for ya!

Ya Michigan weather is funny, I once woke up in the middle of the night to nearly a foot of snow caving my tent down around my head one trout opener a few years back. Our steelies are just rainbows that live in the big lakes and run up the rivers to spawn. We have quite a few good trout rivers to choose from, but mainly I hit the South Branch of the Ausable for giant browns on streamers, the Big Creek for brookies on a crawler and anywhere along the west side for jumbo trout of all species. I havent done much big lake fishing besides a few perch charters. In the fall chinook and coho run thick in many rivers, and nothing beats wrestling a 20+ pound silver bullet up and down the river bank.
